Old timer? I'm 23!!! And those cars have probably been there for 29 years.
The name Fiesta does not mean that the car will suck. The name Ford means that the car will suck. It is a well known fact (in America) that Ford and GM do not put very much effort and quality into their economy cars. The Fiesta was an excellent example of this. Why can't you understand that it is a bad idea to name a car after a DISASTER! I'm simply saying that they should name it something else.
Why is a European defending Ford while an American tells it like it is?
    Weird...

I called you a old-timer because you called me a kid. I don't know many people in their 20's that use that term. I also assumed you were 50+ because you would have to be at least in your mid-40's to be old enough to be driving when the Fiesta was sold in the US.

Why do you assume that I'm an European? I'm not. I was born in Michigan and as my profile clearly shows, I live in Alabama now. I did have a chance to travel extensively through Europe and Japan with my last job. I spent 1/3 of my time traveling internationally from 2004 to 2007. It really opens your eyes to not only see how other cultures live but spend hours talking to people from another country. It completely changed my outlook on life.

I also have driven quite a few American cars as both my father and father-in-law are strictly Ford men. Both have had minimal problems with their vehicles and keep them for 8-10 years. One of the best cars that I have owned was a 1991 Chevy Cavalier Wagon. I put 100K miles on it the 4 years I was at school and it never needed anything besides routine maintenance. It is now owned by a friend of the family and has ~250K miles.

I also know that statistically there aren't really any bad cars made today. If you look at the rankings from companies like JD Powers, the difference in quality defects is tiny. 2008 Initial Quality Study | J.D. Power and Associates

The best was Porsche with 87 defects per 100 cars. (0.87 defect per car)
The industry average was 118 defect per 100 cars. (1.18 defects per car)
The absolute worst was Jeep with 167 defect per 100 cars. (1.67 defects per car)

From best to worst the difference is less than 1 defect per car. To say that all Ford cars suck is simply your personal bias. Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln are all rated above the industry average.

Maybe Fords don't suck... Maybe its only the Fords that I have looked at.
I do like their full sized pick-up trucks.
