don't think any bigger wil fit there is already a big 1.5 4cyl inthere
i am thinking about a smaller one like a nice 1 liter 3 cyl from the honda insight. non-turbocharged of course for even better mpg

How about a Cox 0.20 or maybe even a 0.49? Do they still make those little model airplane engines?

I think you could try a 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel, but I'm not sure if the bolt pattern on the transaxle will match. Let us know how it works out.

If you drop it in from a few feet, the bolt pattern won't matter.

The Viper 8.0L V-10 would really make it a screamer.

You could remove the hatch door and install a small turbojet engine.

4G63 with Cosworth 272 degree cams, an MBC, and a GT35R FTW. It's transversely mounted like the stock Prius engine too.

*Warning: if you get this to work, the gas mileage might go down a little.

You forgot about the Cox .010 ...the smallest engine ever produced.

I own two, although I don't think either will run anymore. I loved those little engines - 25,000 RPM on a good day.

Your post makes me realize I put my decimal in the wrong place, upgrading the size of the .020 and .049 by a factor of ten.

Anybody remember the 'Hemi under Glass' dragster? Wouldn't that look great with a Prius?

I think at that point it won't be MPGs (miles per gallon) but instead will be GPM (gallons per mile). :yo:

And also the Pratt and Witney R4360 is much larger and heavier than a Prius.
