I can, I did, but with my zip code a Touring isn't offered. Because they're not currently offered in the mid-Atlantic region. Oh, never mind..

Hi All. I thought this would be the place to post, as I'm on a waiting list, after paying a refundable deposit, for MSRP touring Prius. I was told 2 to 4 weeks, so I hope it all works out. Great to be here : )

That's probably a reasonable estimate. I don't know what it actually is, but it seems like California gets half the allocations. Even rumors of Prius' on lots in some parts of CA.

    Need some opinions please.

I'm looking at 11 wks of waiting as of today and pretty much have been losing hope of getting my car anytime soon. Initially got on the list for a spectra blue/seaside pearl Touring #2 in the beginning of may. Added another color choice (Barcelona Red) and then talked to my dealer about considering a Base Prius Package 4 if it was looking like I would not get my car by Mid August since I will definitely need a car to get to work. (I am presently car less having gotten rid of my SUV prior to my move). Anyway, I finally got a call today from my dealer. Bad news, no Tourings in their allocation today and I was still #4 on their list. The sorta good news, they did get a Seaside Pearl Package 5 with their allocation today that apparently the first 3 people on the list did not want. She asked me if I wanted it. Despite my wanting a Touring SBM #2 as my first choice, I can't really complain about a base Prius #5 as I'm sure many people would jump at this given the present demand and I really do need a car by August. She offered it to me at MSRP (plus all the state taxes and delivery fees etc but no other mark ups that I can see)

Soooo, do I say yes? She said I will likely get my car mid August. Is this a normal waiting time after dealers get word about their allocation?

Hello! I've been waiting 7 weeks for my prius to arrive. Hopefully it won't be much longer...dealer told me 6 to 8 weeks. I called him three weeks ago and he told me we were still on schedule so... Right now I'm driving a white tundra. I drive around 1300 mile a week...can you guess why I'm buying a prius? Anyway, it's good to have a community to chat with and hope I'll have good news soon.

Dave and Joan -- I'm in California, been on one waiting list since May 22nd, for a Seaside Pearl #4 or #5, no preference on interior. I suppose we've been on the first waiting list for seven weeks now. The 60 dealers here in northern CA have been getting about 250 or so Priuses every two weeks since the beginning of June, and there are no cars on the lots anywhere as far as I can tell. "Rumors of Prius' on lots"? As far as I know, every one is being sold as they're coming off the delivery truck, if not sooner. I know of at least two or three dealers in NorCal who are 'packing the price' (a premium over list price) by about $3000 - $3500, and they're getting away with it (in high-demand super-commuter areas like the southern Central Valley). There are other dealers who are adding window tinting and chrome wheels to all the cars, then charging full list for the additions on top of MSRP. After dealing with the seven dealers within 50 miles of our house, it seems like each one has a different story: "let me 'build' you one and put the order in with the factory" (yeah right); "I climbed onto the delivery truck to make sure the VIN was right and the couple were standing next to the truck"; "there are 30 people with deposits in front of you"; "I'll enter your order right away". I'm convinced they're all stories, nothing more.

Two weeks ago, we got on three more waiting lists, and even submitted a $500 deposit with one (deposits are very common)... I've heard that the next allocation will be much bigger - wish us luck.

Karl8704: Thanks for the clarification. We got on our second list after the dealer that we were with pulled the pleg and wanted $4000 over MSPR even from customers that already had put down a deposit. that's why I found the following thread:

    http://priuschat.com/forums/newbie-forum/49407-norcal-only-place-us-inventory.html

I guess the situation has changed. Your 250 Prius' for 60 dealers sounds abount the same allottment that I hear about in Southeastern Toyoto region. 4 to 5 cars per dealer.

    Good luck on your wait.

I get about 4 to 5 offers a week on new Prii. Of course all $3k-5k over list but the interesting thing is that most are from the same dealers that "claim" to have anywhere from 10 weeks to 10 months wait list. Best line yet was, "this is a special gift to us from Toyota so we have to bump the price"! So I told him where he can "bump" it.

Have all of the dealers gone to above MSRP pricing? For some reason I thought that there were a few left, but that their lists were loooong! I had started a "dealers selling at MSRP" thread but I don't believe it had any posts lately. I really get the feeling some dealers are selling to the high bidder regardless of were you are on the list. No proof. Just a feeling.

Just heard from my dealer. I've been allocated a silver Touring pkg 6 for delivery mid-August! If that holds, it will be what I was told on initial order--8-10 weeks from May 28. No VIN yet, but soon, he says. The car is exactly what I originally ordered, with no alternatives specified.

Now, can you please advise me on the next step: I've checked it out and don't want the Toyo Guard package at any price if I can avoid it. In one of the forums I read that as soon as I have a VIN, I should not5ify my dealer I don't want it. hould I wait until I have the VIN, or let him know now? Since then, there has been discussion that dealers are either refusing to cancel it, or saying they can't. Any suggestions to avoid the $700+ cost?

I'm going to get my prius! Got to talk to my dealer today and got a Prius Package #5 Seaside Pearl (my 2nd color choice) from this week's allocation. No VIN yet but should be getting it in Mid August (does this sound about right?).

Not my first choice as I really wanted a Touring but since I'm going on almost 11 wks now having ordered it in early May and seeing the high deman, I'm glad to have any prius at this point. I will likely be waiting a total of 14-15 wks until I finally have it in my drive way. Happy nonetheless that there is an end to the long wait.

Cheer up senior WLs, there is hope yet!

I'm sorry to hear all of the waiting stories. I walked into a dealer here in Southwest Florida June 26th and bought a package 2 with leather, the color I wanted the very same day! Someone had ordered the Sandalwood with tan leather, and then changed their mind. My wife ordered a white, with charcoal leather, package 6 that day and got it 12 days later. It must be that they're not as popular here or something. Oh yeah, we only paid sticker price too! I don't know if I could have waited as long as some of you are. First tankfull I got 50MPG. Maybe you should think about contacting my dealer. They say the longest wait is never more than 6-8 weeks, but usually a lot less than that! The salesman was the nicest and best I've ever dealt with, and they do not add to the sticker price. Very straightforward and very polite. He is Brian Casey, at Cramer Toyota of Venice Florida @1-941-484-9000. There are three Brians so be sure to ask for Brian Casey. The beaches here are fantastic. We are close to Siesta Key, which is rated as ont of the best beaches in the country. Or, Venice beach right here is great too. Maybe you could buy a 1 way ticket to Sarasota-Bradenton airport, get a Florida vacation, and drive home in your new Prius. Southeast Toyota allows them to order the cars different than up north. For example, you can get leather in any model. Tell him that Tom Spencer sent you, and I'll get a dinner for my wife and I out of it. If you come down when your car is in, he might be able to pick you up at the airport with your new Prius! That's Brian in the picture, attaching my tag. If he can't pick you up, maybe I could! I hope this is helpful to someone.

Dwreed3rd -- our local dealer called yesterday and told me that our Seaside Pearl was on its way! Should be here next weekend (7/26). Now, it's not sitting in our garage yet, but this is a good indicator. Since we officially put our name on the waiting list on May 28th, it will be 8 weeks, 3 days on the list. Considering how bleak it looked only 3 or 4 weeks ago, this is better. I hope this gives the other readers of this forum a little encouragement -- hang in there. More later...

I see your loaction is Pa. We're from Pa originally. Southeast region runs as far north as NC. I'm on the list with a dealer in Tampa, Fl. Will pick it up and drive it back to Atlanta, Ga., ~400mi. Touring, leather, Pkg#3. Between Touring model, not to be confused with Touring option. Configuration has everything on it except GPS. Have you considered checking out dealers in NC.

Wow. I bought my 2007 Prius (Package 5) last September. I walked into the dealership, told them I wanted to test drive one--made them pull it out of the showroom because it was the only Package 5 they had, drove it, paid $800 under MSRS, and never dealt with them again.

What I'm hearing in this forum, make me wonder why the hell Toyota isn't producing these a bit faster.

BTW, if you drive it like a car (and not a video game), you'll get 44 MPG. That's great. If you drive it like a video game, you'll do better, however you may crash in the process.

    cheers.

I have done a bit of research, and have figured out some things "in the rough", with help from a previous thread. Go here to get an idea on where you may need to begin, in order to start a Standard to Touring Conversion. It isn't cheap, but...
