I have a 2008 Prius coming (w/package 5) and am getting Sirus (factory installed) at the dealer. Does anyone now where they ilocate the antenna? Any known issues?

    Thanks

The best place IMO is in the spoiler. A thread in this forum has instructions and photos which I used as a guide. Search on "spoiler antenna sirius" and you should find it. Since the antenna is completely hidden you are unlikely to have a break-in to steal the receiver (which, if you use the SCC1 and the TOY-SCC1, will also be completely hidden).

THE TOYOTA DEALER IS DOING THIS AND USING "TOYOTA" SIRIUS. DO I NEED TO TELL THEM WHERE TO MOUNT THE ANTENNA, OR WILL THEY KNOW.

i CALLED AND SPOKE TO A SERVICE ADVISOR AND WAS TOLD THEY USUALLY MOUNT ON THE INSIDE OF THE REAR WINDOW

I told them to install it and that's where they put it, right behind my antenna. We didn't discuss anything.

I WANT SIRIUS, an hour later it was done.

I have had mine in the spoiler for about a month and a half now..and I am disappointed. I am getting significant drop outs etc. Of course, YMMV, but that is my experience.

The Toyota installation instructions for XM and Sirius are posted around here somewhere. For some reason the XM instructions place the antenna on the dash and the Sirius instructions place the antenna on the roof behind the whip as some have mentioned.

I ran a temporary antenna installation from the roof per the Sirius instructions tonight. Pretty easy if you're not afraid to remove a few trim panels. But I did chicken out about drilling a hole in the bottom of the console (where I have the Stratus portable receiver for the time being until I get an integration kit) so I just have the wire running up the passenger side of the outside of the console and under the lid.

XM is repeated through cell towers so the antenna location isn't that critical. Sirrius is satellite ony so if the antenna can't see the sky then you're out. I've had it cut out going through the drive thru at Jackin my Crackin, going under bridges or parking under trees. Sometimes I'll be driving alond and it'll cut out for no reason. I think it has to do with high voltage lines creating an EMF which disturbs the RF signal reception just for a moment. My friends XM cut out once, deep in a canyon headed towards Tahoe, no cell, no radio, and appearantly no satellite.

I tried using my Stiletto in the car but was next to impossible. It even cuts out when I put my hand over it. But they have Howard and the BRN......
