Couldn't you just put the car in neutral and floor the accelerator? That'll get the engine revving. Of course you'd need to make sure the car really is in neutral before you floor it. :)

Actually, when the car is in Neutral, pressing the accelerator does nothing.

With my Evo, I temporarily re-routed the hose for my intercooler sprayer and use it to spray people when they are walking really slow in my high school parking lot holding up traffic. You should see the looks on their faces. That would also be fun to sneek up on people when in stealth with the Prius and honk the horn, or bump their backpack. Lol.

It comes out like a supersoaker (because its temporarily disconnected from the jets the fan out the water on the intercooler, which creates pressure). It's soooo fun. They turn around and look for a person with a water gun. They have no idea that its me!

There is no drop in using the A/C if the alternative is having the windows open at speeds above 40 or so. The fan does not take up that much energy but running the air conditioning compressor does use quite a bit of energy. In winter, you are really just using the fan to move the heat into the cabin that the ICE cooling system stores.

By the way, did you know that the ICE stores hot coolant?

Both of my Prius have seemed to reveal an improvement even at 30,000 miles. I have no idea by just how much, nor do I care. Just seeing that MPG in the mid 50's is enough for me.

By the way, today was the first day in months that the temperature got all the way up to 61 F degrees, though it was rather brief... only a few minutes, in fact. The stealth was incredible!

From what I have noticed, there IS a "force engine on" button....the front defroster button seems to start the ICE without fail.

Ah, War of the Worlds (by Jeff Wayne)! Some wonderful music. I can almost figure out what's in the sound file without playing it (in an inappropriate location).

My idea of a Prius "reminder" sound is the low series of rumbling bass notes at the start of "You're So Vain."

Here's my stealth story: I frequent a bank drive-up window near my commuter train station. I often walk up to the window because I am not in a car (took a bus to the train). There is a small doorbell at the window to get the teller's attention for this purpose. Usually she is sitting at another window with her back to me. (which is not bad in itself)

Last Saturday we drove the Prius to the drive-up window and it was quieter than walking up. When we tapped the doorbell the teller (facing away) was quite startled, and politely commented, "What a quiet car you have!"

I scared a bicyclist out of 3 lives a few weeks ago. There is a big hill going down into downtown Olympia. The speed limit is 25 down hill so you charge the battery till you get on the flat and I mean flat because it was built on old mud flats. Running with a green battery I glided up to the left shoulder of a Bicyclist who never heard me. I think he saw my fender out of the corner of his eye and turned around to realize we was right next to a car. The look on his face was priceless as I glided by not making much more noise than he was.

A friend of mine, on her first ride in the new Prius, commented at a stoplight, "Wow, your car is so quiet, I can't even tell it's on!"

    I replied, "It's not."

    lol

    OT:
A 10-12 year old boy pointed at my parked car over the weekend and said to his mom, "Look there's one of those electric cars." I was amazed.

Well, about 3-5 years ago I had never heard of a Prius. When I saw it at the Chicago Autoshow last year, and saw it in a lot of magazines; it drew my attention. Ever since I saw it at the Chicago Autoshow last year, I fell in love, with the 04-05 prius; not the models. :D

The same thing happened to me with my best friend's wife when we picked her up from work.

it does get you noticed. was picking up dinner at outback and of course was parked outside waiting for my order and a few people walked by giving my car strange looks. one even said "nice car".
