I've had just about every Prius color in all the cars I've owned--and more. Color is subjective, and you get used to just about any of them. On the Prius, I liked the green and the two blues. Got the green.
I had the dark blue, red, orange (I'm showing my age) and maroon colors in the Toyota line; blak in Honda and purple in Renault. I now have the Silver Pine Mica Prius. Its an incredible color and suited perfectly for this car. All of the other colors look great when the car is washed. Unfortunately in Chicago the weather dictates a car should retain its beauty when the rain and snow occur. The SPM has that clean look that looks great anytime. I liked the color of the car when I drove it off the Toyota lot in May and really came to appreciate it after those summer rains.
:yo: My wife and I would be proud to join, we are constantly recieving complements on the color. We have fondly nicknamed the car "The Turtle"
I traded my 2005 Silver package 6 Prius on a 2008 SPM package 5. I ordered in April (dealer said 4 to 6 weeks), and it finally showed up in August. The dealer kept offering me other colors. No one at work noticed the difference for about 2 days, until someone saw that I had a temporary registration sticker on the windshield. The car looks either green or silver depending on the light. Only one problem with the Silver Pine Mica color...... If you look at your title to the car, mine says silver.... There is not enough room to put in Silver pine mica, so on the title we have a silver car not a green one. With all the odd color names you might have the wrong color on the title. I don't know if this is a problem with licensing or not
That whole "color on the title" problem can probably be traced to someone at the dealer who just tried to copy the sticker color name. My title says "green", an insult to the beauteous Fiona, but accurate in more ways than one! (I once owned a car whose color, according to Pontiac, was "mariposa". Do you think anyone would put that on a title? What on earth would people think the color was? I won't make you guess - it was yellow. Don't ask why we wanted a yellow car. . . .)
My wife and I voted. I wanted Black and she Silver Pine Mica. At age 64 I find that a "Yes Dear" works wonders in the getting along department. Our "Lt Grn," as DMV calls it, is easy to keep clean here in rural Idaho. I've seen few Black Prii and all looked in dire need of a good washing. So she was right...again! Who knew! Our interior is Bisque and we get many compliments. Next time we get Competition Orange...Yes dear I'm turning off the PC and coming the bed!!!
Let me join the club too! I've had my SPM for just over two months and love it. It was my first choice color - my last car was silverish and boring. Now my car has a little SPM twin that parks next to it at work! I've got about 1,500 miles on it and really have come to love driving again. I always used to want anyone else to do the driving, but now I'm always the one who volunteers. I've done several little modifications including Weather Tech mats and cargo liner, rear bumper protector, sun visor hood for MFD screen, side window deflectors and splash guards (mud flaps). Put the splash guards on myself (I'm a girl and have never done car maintenance, but found a great how to description here at PC). It gave me an excuse to get out the jack, take off a tire, etc. I'm still getting to know my car and finally programmed the HomeLink door opener this week. Early on I had already deprogrammed the reverse beep (made it driving 30+ years without one and don't want one now!). It's been a great lot of fun and learning.
I certainly hope many folks will "recycle" their SPM prius by trading it in, or selling it when they get ready for a new car(prius)..... but since Toyota saw fit to discontinue our favorite color, I guess those of us who have 'em, enjoy 'em because they don't make the silver pine mica any more. I asked Doug Colman at the Prius Connection Detroit event about the color thing, and he thought it was that there just were not enought orders for the color, so they discontinued it. since it was the color that was on the Prius Toyota brochure, I was certain it was a color that was here to stay, and it's green!! on a hybrid!! anyway, maybe it will make our cars more valuable when we trade in. All the best follow club members... RD
I'm a new member of the SPM club!!! Oh yes, SPM was indeed my color of choice. I took delivery of my 2009 SPM touring #5 Wednesday afternoon and immediately headed off on a 200 mile trip to the beach. I am in love. Happy driving. Lisa
Both of my Prius are literally and figuratively "green": 2004 Tideland Pearl 2007 Silver Pine Mica To me, it makes tremendous sense to have a green car that is colored green, just as you expect a frog to be green...
For members of the SPM club, I believe this is a rare Vehicle. Recently purchased a 2009 pkg 6 Prius, Does anyone know How many 2009 SPM, pkg 6 were made ?? Thank you Double Green Hybrid Club
