Sometimes, and only sometimes, my trip meter will re-set itself after I have stopped to fill up with fuel, and No, I haven't touched the dash.
The next time, it wouldn't have re-set, for some reason.
Would you people 'in the know' please tell me what is going on here?
    Thanking you in advance,
    Beau of HeidiHo

I have found that the tripmeter on the dash will reset if I completely fill the tank, but may or may not if I do not completely fill the tank, as in put in only three gallons instead of the 6 to 8 it normally takes to "fill" it up.

The miles will reset, but the mileage must be manually reset. On older Prius, the mileage also resets automatically.

personally, i hit "reset" after every fill-up so that i can get the mileage for the next tank and not the average over multiple tanks. FWIW

In my 2007, as long as you fill up completely, it will automatically reset within 1/2 mile of leaving the gas station. You can also manually reset it at any time.

Thats not a trip meter. Thats your "miles per tank" meter. It tends to reset when it notices that you've added more then 3 gallons to the tank.

Your trip meter is in the ODO spot. (toggle it with the button)

True. But it can also be used as a trip meter.

In the ODO, I have two dedicated trip meters, but never use them. I choose to always display the total mileage.

Hey, Thanks Guys, I really appreciate it.
Now, I can rest easily, as it even happened to
    my HeidiHo yesterday.
On another subject, if you want to see how much Camping Gear
Miss HeidiHo stuffed into our '08 Prius to go Tent Camping for 2
weeks in the Grand Teton's, Yellowstone, etc., and still have room
for a bed for our Chocolate Lab 'Camper', and still averaged 46.5 mpg,
e-mail me at [email protected], and I'll e-mail 'em to you.
    You will not believe it.
    Thanks again,
    Beau of HeidiHo

    what he said.

i've noticed that less than 2 gallons used from previous fill, it will not reset to zero.

so i generally wait until i've traveled a minimum 200 miles (abt 4 gallons) before i fill up. that way it'll consistently reset to zero.

normally, i travel abt 400 miles for each tank before i fill-up (8-9 gallons).
