LG Glimmer AX830 works great!

The Toyoto "Letstalk" website indicates the Glimmer with Alltel will work, but they list several functions as not working (with a 2006 Prius) that actually DO work. Didn't want someone to not try this phone because of the perceived limitations. "Letstalk" says the following do NOT work:

-single number transfer from cell phonebook
-handsfree system displays cellular network strength
- " " " roaming status from the cellular network
- " " " battery level of the phone
-transmit single number phonebook entries that contain special characters to the system (p, w,etc)

All of these things work WITH ALLTEL. I don't know about other carriers.

I set mine up this weekend. I tried transferring my entire phonebook several times and while it SAID it was transferring the entire phonebook, all that transferred was the first entry. So I had to do single contacts at a time. No big deal. Please note, every time you touch "Transfer data" on the car, your phone says "disconnecting from Prius". Just ignore and proceed to select the contact you want to transfer.

I have found many comments on this forum helpful, so I just wanted to share this.

P.S. This is a GREAT phone if you don't care about lots of online stuff. It is NOT a Smartphone, BUT it has the same touchscreen as the LG Voyager. You will NEVER want to touch a navigation button again once you use this phone. BestBuy sells for $129 right now, with NO REBATES or anything to file. Couldn't be simpler.

I don't live online, so if anybody has questions, I'll try to check back from time to time. Maybe some other Glimmer users will chime in!

 

Just remembered...my Glimmer came with software version XXXXV05, which is what Toyota tested. Before I tried to pair up my phone, I downloaded the newest version of software from Alltel..took just a couple of minutes. Maybe the fixes I mentioned above were included in the update, so be sure & update your phone!
