Non-factory window causing bunching-up of rubber

    Anyone ever have a problem with a replacement window for one of the front doors? I got broken into a few weeks ago and a local shop replaced my window with a non-factory window (that is, it doesn't say Toyota in the corner like the one on the other side), and I've notice ever since the rubber along the front edge of the window bunching up ever time I roll the window up. I end up going up and down a few times so that it straightens itself out. I'm going to see the guy again on Thursday to see if he can do anything for me. If that doesn't work, does anyone have any suggestions? Should I try to get a Toyota window put in there instead?

    The brand of glass should not matter. However the installation does. Sounds to me like the window regulator is misaligned. Return to who did the work and have them realign it. Or take it somewhere else and send them the bill.

    I always make sure that the shop uses OEM glass. Have had several bad experiences where that was not the case. The quality of the repair work can also be an issue.....

    Ended up trying 2 other non-Toyota windows and neither ended up working. The 4th window was an official Toyota replacement and works perfectly. (Thanks to A OK in Phili for not charging me the $20 for the extra cost.)

    I got a bum piece of aftermarket rear door replacement glass. The new OEM Toyota piece, while not perfect, is a lot better.
