Hello, I have been reading PC for about 2-3 months now and finally decided to make an account. I will be getting an 09 Touring #2 Magnetic Gray in about a week from out local Toyota dealer. I have signed all papers and have received the Vin#. My question is, is this possible? I thought 09s will be coming in a month or so. Also I declined their extended warranty which was quoted to me at 7yr/75k for $2500.

    Serra,

From what I was informed from my local dealer my '09 will be in around the same timeframe (only a few hundred miles south of you). Originally from what others say and I read here, I concluded the '09s weren't do here on the west coast untill mid-September. Only the next few weeks will tell I guess. Take a look at the extended warranty offers available via the threads here, $2500 is way off from what the "norm" is or even the offer via priuschat. Just do a general search and it should pop up.

Ah ok, so its not a scam or anything like that. Was worried since most have stated 09 will be late September. I thought they were passing 08 as 09. Just never bought a car on my own without someone with me. Thank you for the help. Also I do plan on buying the warranty but not at that price. Will do some more shopping around.

Since you have the VIN#, the tenth digit will tell you the model year, 2008 is 8 and 2009 is 9.

Toyota's best and longest extended warranty -- Platinum Care/7 years/100,000 miles/$0 Deductible -- is available here for $990.

You can also get here Toyota extended warranties with fewer years and/or miles -- like that 7 years/75,000 miles warranty the dealer offered you -- for hundreds less than that $990.

If I were you, I would hold off on getting an extended warranty until the basic warranty is close to running out at 3 years/36,000 miles. That way you'll be better informed as to whether you think you should get the warranty, and which warranty to get in terms of length/miles.

Next week would be about 3 weeks sooner than the first scheduled port arrival assuming there are no delays. Additionally, it would take another 4 to 10 days for it to move from port to dealer. I don't think it's possible that an '09 will be arriving on a dealer lot any sooner than one month from today.

'09s didn't even begin production until Monday of last week. By the time they're completed and get through QE and then finally to a dock and loaded onto a ship, a few weeks have past.

Ok, that's what I thought orginally that the 09s wouldnt be in until late September. Although I do have a Vin# and it is indeed an 09 so I'm happy about that. Now I just hope the dealer isn't teasing me.

If you get your '09 in a week, I'll be sad. That will mean my '08 is last years model. :(

Time frame sounds about right. I bought my '08 two days before Halloween last year. I assume I wasn't just lucky and happened to buy a '08 the day they came out... so I'd imagine September sounds about right.

Well, it's official. I just got the call about 30m ago. They are detailing the Magnetic Gray Touring Prius and should be done by the time I get there. So it did take about 2-3 weeks since we first talked to the salesperson and placed our deposit. I want to thank everyone for their help and input. I will be keeping in touch since I'm hooked on PC.

No sir. My 09 looks just like an 08. Spittin image. No seat height adjuster.
