I'm looking for a 05 Prius Repair Manual on CD. Like toyota uses. I had this on my altima. And i found it very nice to be looking at engineering of the car as well, as showing the Toyota Tech's i know what i'm talking about.

Does any body know where i can get a copy?

I have looked on ebay (where i found my last repair manual). But i can only find the books.

    Thanks,

    Jonathan

It's tedious and requires a little bandwidth but you can pull down a bunch of pdf files from the Toyota Technical Information Service - click here and stitch together your own cd. It's a pain but if you've got the time and patience you can do it for $10 plus the cost of the cd and your own labor.

I know some have already gone through this exercise but do to copyright issues we can't just swap them around. I pulled down the owner's manual this way but the repair manual has a lot more pieces to it.

I have the repair manual, owner's manual, NAV manual, New Car Features, wiring diagram for 2004, and wiring diagram for 2003. Got them the way John Anderson mentioned. Took about a total of 2 full days
    to do.

Makes searches so much easier than paper manuals, though the PDFs lack indexes.

Same as John, I can't give them out.

I doubt it would be legal, but it might be ethical: Pay Toyota their subscription price for the full day but get the disc off of Ebay.

Toyota gets their money, you get the files, they save some bandwidth, and you save some time.

Of course, you probably won't have the latest and greatest of updated files, but it might save you a lot of headache.

Has anyone come up with an automated method for retrieving the files since indexing was turned off?

Maybe get the people who have already downloaded to give us a list of the filenames? Or is it not that simple?

It's not really that simple since they give you a site address that times out. Once downloaded Adobe Reader 6.0 can search multiple files for whatever info you are looking for. There are 260 chapters for the repair manuals (3 volumes) alone so its a lot of clicking as each chapter has to be downloaded individually. I also downloaded the wiring diagrams and the user manual.

I did it! took me about two days to do.

Got everything from their Training Manuals to wire harness repair, also how to weld a roof on =) Great Info!

Thanks for your input. You were not kidding when you said it took you 2 days. Took me about 10 - 12 hours!

It's worth it to get an understanding on all the engineering that was put into this amazing car...

    Two quick questions:

    1) What kind of connection speed with the 10-12 hours? (I'm thinking of goining into work on a day off)

    2) After downloading, will it all fit on a CD? two CDs?

    Thanks,
    Shawn

DSL connection speed. And it will fit all on one CD just fine.

Wow, I guess I can't complain too much about Shaw Cable Internet Extreme up here.

I've downloaded 400-700 MB files from Sun Microsystems and at the *most* around 45 minutes. But 10-12 hours?? Yuk!

    Tucson Prius,

It's not so much file size being a problem, it's the manuals being divided into over a thousand files (FYI, the Full repair manual is about 1,313 pdf files).

This looks like a job for "Down them all," a Firefox extension that downloads all the links on a page with just a single click!

    Thanks,

Sounds good. Although some of them have the same names. So does it automatlity search thru the page into sub-directories and rename dupilicate file names?

Don't know if down them all would work. It uses a Java interface to present a list of files you can download, then when you select it, then it retrieves it for your browser. The links are not static.

The files can be accessed directly, if you know the directory structure and file names.

There are two things that interest me in this thread. One being a Mod to the browser to download all files, and the other being 'if I could prove I'd paid for toyota's service', would someone share their CD with me.

I'd be happy to sign up for their service for the $50 for a month, but I'm not sure I have the patience to spend 15hours down loading.

I also found mention in another site of a 'Toyota CD' which I guess is for dealers without HS internet.

Any thougts on either of these as options ?
    Thanks
    Gw

so you suggest we pay someone on e-bay who has taken it upon himself to rip off Toyota for his financial benefit?

I was thinking more along the lines that if I showed that I had paid the $50 to subscribe to Toyota's service if someone who had already downloaded all the info on the Prius would care to share their already downloaded info on a CD image.

If I have to I'll spend the 10+ hours to download. I'd preferr this to the $400 paper copies anyway.

I think this is a fair idea, Toyota gets their subscription fee, I would be willing to .zip what I got for my '12 v and send it to that person. Why make someone repeat hours of work with the same end result...
