    Hi everybody
I have a 2004 pkg #9 and it has been no problem for 4 years and 55k miles. However, in the last month I have been getting an intermittent problem with the screen display.
It seems to loose it's connection to everything else - the normal screen is displayed but it doesn't display the mpg's or temp, it states that the audio is off (when it's on) it states 'external system is not connected' when i press Menu or Map and most of the other buttons don't work. The A/C and stereo both work OK even though they can't be controlled from the display screen.
I have noticed that it is fine in the morning when the car has been standing overnight but is almost always bad when I come to drive home from work. It usually comes back on part way home (after ~20mins of driving).
I am OK with taking it to the dealer except that earlier this year I installed the coastal electronics ultimate lockpick and I am concerned that this may be the cause of the problem....
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Has anyone else had a similar problem either with or without a 'lockpick' fitted? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Duncan

    OK thanks - very helpful!

One final thought - is a dealer likely to refuse to repair under my extended warranty because of the coastal lockpick? I could take it out first of course but would like to avoid the remove and reinstall effort if I can....

    Any advice on this?

    Thanks

    Duncan

My opinion is that its very unlikely that the Lockpick contributed to your issue. But my opinion doesn't count - its the dealers opinion that is important. I think they might try to claim that the Lockpick caused the issue. Also, if the tech sees the Lockpick, they might assume that it is causing the issue and would stop looking for the actual problem.

I think you are probably right. I'll take it out and then take it to the dealer.

    Thanks for the advice.

Does anyone know how I can get a PDF of TSB EL002-05? The link I found on the main thread for this issue didn't work....

    Thanks

OK thanks (again). I had to save it rather than open it for some reason but I've got it now.

Now onto the dealer to see if they will replace the unit under my extended warranty - I have read a few posts saying that some dealers are saying it isn't covered.....I'm not going to lie down easily on this one!

Thanks for your help with this.

    Cheers
