Really? I shall try it. Where was your fob inside the car?

In my purse on the front passenger seat. Now, one thing that might have made a difference - upon further reflection - is that the door did not completely close. Just enough to latch the door. Perhaps if the door was closed all the way, I might have gotten a different response. More experiements to do!!

Well, if you do that with mine, a second or two after you close the door, it will automatically unlock again. if the key is inside.

My doors remained firmly and totally locked but as I stated before it may have been because the door wasn't fully closed. I did just confirm that the doors will unlock themselves when completely closed with the fob inside. Good to know. Perhaps if gthe door is slightly ajar, one could just push the door closed .....ah, ha! that did the trick. Good to know just in case history repeats itself.

Don't ya just love this SmartKeySystem?

I also tried locking my fob in the car, unsuccessfully. When I put the fob on the seat (with the key part of the fob in my pocket, just in case) and locked the doors using the armrest button the doors unlocked as soon as they closed. I couldn't find a way to lock the fob in the car.

edit: Perhaps I should have read all the posts before being redundant. Oh well.

IT IS POSSIBLE TO LOCK YOUR FOB IN THE CARGO AREA OF YOUR CAR!!

The fob sensor has difficulty detecting it in the cargo are and you may inadvertantly strand yourself. If you are performing a demonstration for your friends, they will get the last laugh as you call Toyota Roadside Assistance.

My first indication was when I threw the fob in my gym bag and the bag in the hatch. The car wouldn't start. Later, as we were having a conversation very similar to this one, DanMan reiterated that the sensors have difficulty finding the fob in the cargo area.

With that disclaimer out of the way, I love showing people how smart my car is. If you use the armrest to lock the doors, the locks will all pop open after you shut the door.
