I talked to my salesman today and he said that he is seeing more people bail out on there wait. It might be a good idea to call some other dealerships be added to the on call list for a "suddenly" available Prius as my salesman put it. I have turned down 5 in the last month and a half, one of those might have been what you wanted. I would ask for the senior salesperson when you call. they seem to have the most pull and are more likely to find you one sooner. Just a thought and good luck on a sooner that anticipated Prius

Got a call on an '09

In July, we put a deposit on a 2009 Prius, and we got our call yesterday. The dealer said that it will hit his inventory in a day or two, but our pkg 5 in seaside blue will be on its way. It sould arrive mid October. ;)

We were going to replace our van with this, but now we are going to trade in our 2006 Prius. We find that we do a few more Home Depot runs than we thought, and will keep our van for another few years. We will trade that in for a plug-in.

By the way, I'm in Massachusetts.

Joyce, keep this in mind. The gas money you save with the new Prius in a week will easily pay for the $19.95 Home Depot Rent a truck for any occasional large purchase you need to bring home.

Got the call an hour ago! "If you are interested the salesman said, I have a Touring Pkg #6 in Silver Metallic coming in if you want it." They did a quick credit check, we have a full VIN, and should be getting the car within the week! YEEEAAAAaaaa!!!!!!! :high5: Not exactly what we wanted, but we know we are going to love it. Pictures to follow when we bring the new baby home.

    Hey All-
Check out Gatorland Toyota in Gainesville FL. NOT an advertisement

We ordered a 2008, Red, Package three, in Lansing on May 15th. We have been "on the top of the list" since June. We have changed packages, and colors and still no car. We do understand the allocation procedures from Toyota.

My mother in law checked Gatorland on September 10th and we are picking up a 2009 spectra blue Package 3 TODAY. It has been about 2 weeks. The sales staff (Ryan Fisher and Ross Murphy) are great. They let us know where the car was and when we could pick it up. Ryan called me yesterday and said he was touching our Prius..too funny. We paid 175.00 for an airline ticket and we have our car.

As an aside, we went to pick up our deposit from the Lansing dealer yesterday. After we got home (with no deposit because they didn't have administrative staff ) , SURPRISE , they called us and told us they had a package 2 we could have. There was no call until after we went to get out deposit back. Lesson learned. By the way, we are paying cash with no trade in so the transaction was not the issue. It was the dealership. To be fair, we have never done business with this dealership so I am certain that may have something to do with it. We have never done business with Gatorland either so.... it should make you think about the dealership.

I called another dealership tonight that I had rejected earlier because they were demanding over MSRP. Tonight they told me that with "new incentives" they are now selling at MSRP. I'm meeting with the sales manager Wednesday to see what he can offer. He was not optimistic of a Touring but he was talking weeks rather than months. We may finally bail out on our Touring requirement. If we can get a 1224 in the next 3 weeks we'll probably take it. If they or our original dealership can't come through we may have to go back to Honda. Our 1991 is on its last leg and we have to have something within weeks, not months. I want to wait but it may not be possible.:hurt::hurt:

Got a call from our salesman tonight. Our package 6 is on the ship and is supposed to arrive in LA on 9/27. Then it will take a while to get to Denver, expected to arrive around mid October.

It's our second choice of color (Super White instead of Silver Pine Mica) but either color will be fine with us. That'll give us a couple of weeks to get some miles on it and get the first service done before our winter trek to AZ.

BTW, when we ordered it on 5/28 the salesman estimated mid October delivery so we're right on schedule.

I put my deposit and order in April its still hasn't been allocated as of this morning. I even caved on the color I wanted. If I don't get one soon I may jump ship and go for a Honda.

I make calls about very 2-3 weeks to the dealership and I've called the regional headquaters and emailed Toyota.

What color(s) and package(s) are you willing to accept? If it's a Touring in CAT there's not much hope. Otherwise we've ( Hampton Roads ) had just about every possible combination available over the last 4 months.

Can I be of any help?

Hi all hope everyone is well. As I said I did have to give up on my Prius. I am 1 week today in my TCH. Thanks to this wonderful sight and all the knowledge I have gained from it I am already averaging 36mpg mixed city driving and 43mpg highway driving 65mph and below. Do the math and if these gas mileage numbers are acceptable for you you might want to consider the TCH. It is VERY nice. Good luck to all of you for a Prius sooner than expected and take care.

Geeze Rcaine, it looks like you might be on the list longer yet (if you can resist the lure of a Honda in the meanwhile).

Great job on the "frustrated seniors" list, BTW. It's fun seeing where I stand among the other (im)patient wannabe Prius owners.

Don't know why I've dropped off the Senior's list. I've been out of town since last week, so tomorrow I'll call my dealer and see if I've got a Prius allocated from their 9/18 list.

Because I get confused sometimes and lose track of things. And it felt good being third on the list for a while. Well I'm back to fourth now and number 1 on my dealer's list for all the good it's doing me. Sorry about that.:redface::redface:

Yesterday, I left the lot of my Portland, OR Toyota dealer with a 2009 Silver Pine Mica Package 6 and I'm still wondering just how this all happened. My Prius saga began in June of this year when I went to Dealer 'A' near where I live to see about ordering a car. I encountered a room for of idle salemen, none of whom wanted to help me as soon as I spoke the Prius word. The youngest of them was chosen to take my order. He took my name and phone and which colors I wouldn't accept and told me it would take 1-4 months. He said that they didn't take any cash deposits.
A month later I phoned to see where I was on the list. They would only give me vague information, something about being in the 50s. I then started hearing stories about dealers upselling by adding $2000 to the MSRP. In August I was near another Toyota dealership so spoke to a salesman there. He told me that Dealer 'A' was not reputable that I would never here from them and that any reputable dealer would take a $500 deposit and order a car with my exact specs and call me when it came in. So, I gave him $500, he took my info including 3 color choices. He told me my place on the list would be in the 50s. A month later I called him to see what progress I had made on the list. He checked with the sales manager and told me I was # 93, that they were getting 3-4 cars a week. At best I figured I'd see a car in February, 2009.
Five days later I received a phone message from Dealer 'A' telling me that I was at the top of their list and they had a couple cars for me. When I called, I found that the two cars available were colors I didn't want. They said that was OK, more cars would come in in 6 days. I was out of town at the time. When I got home the next day, I checked Dealer 'A' s website and saw that in addition to the cars they'd told me about they had two package 6; so, I went to see them in person. This time the first salesman I encountered was eager to help me. I told him about my phone conversation and asked if they did have the package 6 cars. He confirmed that they did and suggested we see the sales manager to see where I was on their list. The manager scrolled thru pages of names on his computer screen. I'm not sure if he ever found my name at all (he was different from the man on the phone). He asked me when I'd made my reservation and said that yes they had two package 6 cars, one of which was my first color choice. When I told him that he asked the salesman to go get the car. The salesman told me that they never added to the MSRP and from my research, I knew that the MSRP on the sticker was accurate. Two hours later I drove away with my Prius.
Before revisiting Dealer 'A' I had decided to sacrifice the $500 deposit with Dealer 'B' because a family emergency had occured and I needed the car sooner rather than later. And to be honest, I walk away somewhat dazed by all the confusion and lack of transparency about these wait lists. However, my new Prius is a beautiful machine and I'm happy to be able move on now to other adventures.
Best of luck to all of you.

I'm finally off the list. After 17 weeks on the list at our dealership with little prospect of getting our car, I called another dealership that has been very active in our area. Originally they had been asking 2k over MSRP so we dropped them from our list. This time they were asking MSRP and had a couple on the lot. We drove out there tonight. They had one to offer us on the spot. It is not the Touring I was holding out for and we payed for the GPS that I did not want but it's IN THE DRIVEWAY.

Now all I have to do is get my turn driving it. The wife had agreed that my 24 mile commute needs the Prius more than her 4 mile trek (I only teach two days a week). Anyway she has the Prius and I have our '97 tomorrow while she shows it off. At least the half tank of gas in the Prius will hold out through the weekend. We're in Atlanta where most gas stations have no gas to sell.

You might want to check with the AG's office. I don't think you have to lose that $500 deposit. You've got my car BTW :D (actually, I want a package #5). I might have my deposit with Dealer 'B' if they're located east of Portland city limits.
