My Sirius installation seemed to work great; however, twice during the last two weeks it disappears (without the plug being loose/out). When I take the plug out of the TOY-1/SSC-1 and reinsert it, the Sirius 1, 2 and 3 appear and everything works fine (except having to reinitialize my favorite channels.

Has anyone had a similar problem and discovered a fix?

Yes, I've had the same trouble. I think the unit may be overheating.
I moved mine to behind the far right dash, behind/below the far right vent.
    No problems since.

How is your sirius audio volume level, compared to your other radio sources? If sirius seems to low, the code to increase the volume level is pushing 1-6-2-5-3-4 on the preset blocks. That will bump up the volume of the sirius tuner.

I've had this issue as well and to fix I unplug and plug back the sirius and all is working again. I also noticed when I did this that mine was really hot.

9G-man: My volume is lower with the sirius compared to local fm and ipod volume.

Thank you for the replies. Mine could be heat related also. I have mine under the right vent; however, I loosely taped them together to keep them from rattling. I might need to separate them.

Comment on Volume: Re: Sirius (not serious) Problem

Forgot to comment on the volume. My volume is fine once I toggle as suggested.

happens to me every couple weeks...not sure it's heat related though...it was working fine one afternoon this week, went to start the car first thing the next morning and sirius wasn't working...had to do the unplug/replug and it was fine. unless it shut itself off the afternoon before - the heat certainly couldn't have been the issue 1st thing in the morning.

btw - the problem only happens to me when restarting the car/audio system - sirius never disappears once its up and running.

Trying a New Procedure/Re: Sirius (not serious) Problem

I'm also trying to turn off the radio before powering down. My problem also exhibits similar behavior in that it will work fine when I pull into the garage but then not work the next morning; however, in most of these cases, I powered the car down with the SAT radio on.

Based on the observations I've made over the past 2 years, the problem with Siruis is caused by impatience.

About 25% of the time, when I start my Prius, and try to multi-task the system before the car's boot up sequence is complete, (pressing buttons, touching the MFD, or trying to shift), the Sirius radio doesn't start. It's like trying to start an application on your computer before it's fully booted up. Starting a Prius is booting up 11 or 12 computers with an automobile attached to them.

If I wait for the start-up sequence to finish before I start "messing" with the controls, the radio never fails to activate. The Prius is almost totally "fly by wire" , meaning that any action you take is going to go through one of the computers or ECM's before the action takes place.

Toggle your sirius to a higher volume level, quickly push 1-6-2-5-3-4 on the presets.
