Drove past my fav gas station this morning and thought I should grab a tankful at $2.099 / gal on the way home.

On the way home... :guns: $2.239 / gallon!!! :cussing:

As the price of petrol goes up Up UP... I get more questions about the shiny red Prius out in the parking lot. A guy at the car wash grilled me this morning and I gave a tour to a co-worker at lunch.

Any of you folks likewise seeing an increase in Prius Questions from curious passersby?

    Not more than usual.

I was blessed for my last 2 tankfuls. The 2nd to last tank, I heard a barrel of oil went up, so the next morning I filled up as Shell for $1.83. Not a bad price for my driving area, and great for Shell gas. That afternoon, they raised the price to 1.99 I think. Whew!
Well, again, my last tank was getting low, and I remembered a Cheveron near where I live had gas at $2.00 for quite a while. Driving home, I hoped they were still $2.00. They were!
    Next morning, they were $2.04.

Oops, just remembered, I tanked at a BP that usually has lower prices for $1.99 between my Shell tank and my Cheveron tank.

I have been just getting lots of questions from people I know. I get my gas from AAFES (on-post station) they supposely meet or beat the lowest prices within a 20 mile radius. Their prices have been going up 1 cent every day for the last 3 weeks.

Nothing yet. But then I don't get to the gas station much. :p

In 5000 miles so far, I've only had one person come up to ask me a question. We were at the gas station, but it doesn't really count. He was asking for change so he could pay for his gas.

I explained that I don't carry cash at the gas station - and got going before he asked for my credit card.

I got "interviewed' today by the local water service guy. After he flushed out all the fire hydrants in our neighborhood he came up to me as I was washing my Prius and asked how it worked and how many miles I get out of a tank and such.

I was happy to explain. In fact, it made my day.

Talking to the guy who owns the BP just down the street from work... he said his corp hq called him and asked him to raise the price to 2.05... he couldn't cause the guys across the street are still at 1.99.... however he reported that his hq is expecting prices around easter weekend to be hovering at 2.20....

That was the night I went back to the dealer and claimed an incoming Prius.

Since word spread at work of both.. I've been getting quite a few pings from coworkers. I think at the moment I have 4 "testdrives" set up once my baby comes in.

    And Galaxee......
Sorry..... Duke doesn't have a prayer...
    UNC on the other hand....
Why else would they make the Prius in Carolina Blue?

Me, too. I just totally enjoy it. (Though I always try to be fair, and separate my enthusiasm from my facts.)

And the "do you have to plug it in to recharge" question still comes up pretty frequently. Lots of people still don't know much about hybrids.

Hey, I respect that! I've got no idea who's playing in the NCAA playoffs, which I'm sure would cause many, many people's jaws to drop.

Hey now, who says we don't have a chance? They said Duke had no chance to win the ACC championship this year either. We proved them wrong.

UNC- whatever, man. You guys have as much of a chance as Duke does. If anything, Illinois is probably going to win it.

BTW- I don't think Seaside looks that much like Carolina blue. Too dark. Carolina blue is more of a wussy, powdery blue. :)

Warm Weather is what triggers the questions in my area.

And it is rarely the gas station where I get asked. Most of the time it is at stoplights. Parking lot encounters come in at a close second.

Haven't had any recent questions, but as for the gas prices. Let em go up. It hurts me a little bit... but I know it's hurting the folks with the hummers and SUV's much more. So we can get a little satisfaction.

I am looking forward to some warm weather - if only so that I can once again wash my Prius in the driveway.

For all you UNC fans, I graduated from Oakland University and was pretty much smiling the whole game. Your boys could have let up on the three point shots though... sheeze.

What a thrill to see our school on national TV today! Hope someone doesn't try to steal Greg Kampe though... he is an incredible coach and he's been at OU for 21 years.

I filled up Wednesday evening at $1.99. The very next morning, it was still $1.99 but on the way home: $2.19.

When I was waiting to turn into the gass station I saw an Insight preparing to leave. Unfortunately, they left before I got there. I was hoping to pull in behind them and ask, "hey, don't you have to plug that thing in?" :-D

This afternoon a woman at work was holding something she printed from what looked like the CNN website about the most fuel efficient vehilcle and started asking me about my Prius. Tomorrow I'm talking her with me on some errands about twenty miles away and she will get the whole "Prius Experience."

i'm hoping for gas to hit $3 and up. Sure we'll all take a bit of a hit, but at least people will seriously look at alternatives and maybe get it through their thick skull that gas guzzlers are such a waste.

oh and gas is like $2.11 here on long island

Speaking of gas prices... maybe I just drove down a different road today... but one area just south of Raleigh, NC (Garner if you are a local)is sitting at 1.91.... everyone else in town and surrounding areas is bumped up at 1.99, some places crossing 2.00.
Can't say I understand it sometimes... Doesn't that mean that really everyone COULD be at 1.91, but only some are trying to stay there while the rest are giving in to the urge for $$profit$$?

LOL yeah.. well.. I have to admit that's where my money is in the office pool... but I have to pull for UNC since Virginia took a siesta this year...

And I still say they blessed the best car with the next best color... since Cavalier orange probably wouldn't sell too well....

    Go Heels! Round 2...

I'm hoping for $6. Sometimes you have to slap people in the face before they pay attention.

I mean, c'mon, a good 9 out of 10 Suburbans I see on my morning commute are occupied by a sole driver. If the owner can "afford" to get deeply in debt buying something giant like that, they had better not p*** and moan about high gas prices.

I say let's jack the fuel prices evenly, the "excess" being used to fund mass transit, retrofitting homes for energy efficiency, etc. But I guess I'm preaching to the converted here ...
