i finally found something on my prius that i hate. that darn parking brake!!!!!!!!!!!! instead of having a hand release like most cars you hit the parking brake again. wellllllllllll i found that if i havent quite pushed down far enough so it feels secure enough i cant adjust it. i have to start again. i know , i know , i know the tears are flowing and you are offering cheese to go with my whine. ill get used to it but at least i was able to find SOMETHING i dont like. pretty good huh!

I hate the red "passenger is not wearing a seatbelt" light. The stupid thing is so sensitive that I can put a mostly-empty backpack on the passenger seat and the light comes on.

I also didn't like the beeps-in-reverse feature, but now I have it turned off :)

Speaks well for the Prius, as far as I'm concerned, that that was the best annoying thing you could come up with. But I'm glad you found what you were looking for.

Odd, I love having a foot brake instead.

I have trouble with stiff hands in the morning (early arthritis?) and it used to be if my husband drove my car, he'd put the handbrake on so hard that I'd have to use both hands to release it the next morning.

I like the foot brake. It gets in the way between the seats. I don't mind the beep. It's just a reminder I'm in reverse.

Actually, I have many little issues but I'm just a picky person.

Like I think the start button doesn't need to be up on the dash like that. It should be either in the center console or near the key fob entrance. It would make it clearer. Not very many cars are out where you have to start the car by touching top of the dash before you go.

I think the software that makes up the screen graphics should be better. Like I want to know the outside temp and what is going on in the cabin if I have the A/C on other than the AUTO A/C idiot light. Infiniti does a very good job with this and still manages to do the map window without too much problem.

I HATE the input interface where you have to be stopped to put anything in it (Phone or DVD). [I'll mod it soon...] I also think we should be able to create macros or something that we can associate to a voice command.

I find the DVD nav to be horrible in terms of routing and choosing routes. (I'm color blind and the 3 routes things irratates me cause I can't figure out which is which.)

I hate the seat bolsters (strangely after saying I previously wanted leather...I'm keeping it stock, it is the first cloth that really doesn't seem to be too bad.)

I don't like the way the car lights up the interior at night. I wish it had a nice blue or red tinge rather than different ones (head unit) (speedo) (buttons on the wheel) etc.. I am one of those people that turn down everything because I don't like lots of things distracting me at night in the car.

But I LOVE the car. Don't get me wrong. This list would be twice as big if it were any other car. ;)

You obviously aren't someone who occasionally drives around solely to put a baby to sleep :)

I've also disabled the reverse beep. As for the "annoying seatbelt warning", did you know that the same procedure for disabling the reverse beep can also be used to disable the seatbelt warning?? Just substitute connecting the seatbelt latch with selecting Reverse from the shift and the procedure works the same way.

Now there's something that should be in the Knowledge Base... A list of all the "backdoor" codes you can use to disable things. I'm only aware of:

    * Turn off the "Maint Reqd" light
    * Turn off the reverse beep
    * Turn off the seatbelt warning

    Anything else?

And I HATE all those Prius owners who don't hate the car! :cussing:
It's a long waiting list for the rest of us. Please find more negatives. Or think of alternatives: the dignity of a Mercedes; the handling of a BMW; the comfort of a Lexus; the value for money of a Focus. Then accept the fact that you've had your fair share of enjoyment, accept that it's only fair to take a big hit on depreciation, and put your Prius up sale. :D
    Thanks.

    Ummm ... okay.

I can't stand how much storage there is in the front.

If I'm looking for something, like those directions I know I had the other day, I not only have to look in the center console, the little spot below the stereo and both door compartments but also TWO DIFFERENT GLOVE BOXES!

I hate the long wait.

Actually in the test drive I hated the stupid beeping sounds. I had already looked up how to turn them off. I thought everything else was nice. The rear view is better than my Dakota.

I hate the location of the shift knob. I've hit it twice while in motion and accidentally shifted into "B". I wish that the default position was at least centered between gears so that an accidental downward blow didn't change modes.

So don't use them...use the steering wheel controls, they're very convenient, easy to use/find. I haven't touched the knobs on the dash more than 2-3 times in the 5 months I've had my Prius.

Not touching the knobs can be hazardous to your health.

Where did you find the instructions on how to disable the seatbelt warning? Is this for the passenger seat or the annoying buzz for the driver's seat?

    Thanks

I've got a few to add to the list - although like everyone else, I wouldn't trade this car for anything! I'll disagree with the comments about input for different functions while driving. I initially couldn't wait to install the defeat switch for the speed sensor, but after a few close calls while I was distracted with buttons - I've decided it's for the best.

    But there are a few...

    • - The ever-present navigation disclaimer whenever you start the car
      - The fact that you can't put the car in neutral and shut off the power (i.e. for a car wash)
      - The maintenance intervals don't tie to the current odometer reading - forcing you to do math to get alerts at the right time
      - You cannot use voice commands to dial with the bluetooth-connected T616, even though the manual shows some "voice" icons in a sample screen of names.
      - No side extensions for the sun visors (such a simple thing!)
