Wondering if anyone's seen Prius prices drop yet, due to the recent economic upheavals?

I've been holding off on buying because I just can't justify paying the dealer at or over MSRP due to demand.

I dont know about out in Chicago, but Kearny Mesa Toyota out here has been advertising Prius' in the weekend papers for about a month now. In this weekends, it shows a Package 5 for $500 OFF MSRP. I would imagine there would be similiar sales in your area

If you can find one at MSRP its a deal these days. If you plan on waiting for the best prices. I have read that the best time to buy any new vehicle is late February through the end of March. I got mine in March of 2007 and we got a tad more then $1000 below the MSRP.

Shows a number of places advertising Prius' at MSRP. One was even listing $500 below MSRP. So the prices are at least stabilizing (of course with oil prices going down and the bailout plan and Wall St. in turmoil, who knows how violently the prices might fluctuate).

I'm in the market for a used prius, and I have noticed that the used prices have come way down. I've been keeping my eye on a dealership selling a 2005 Prius with about 61,000 miles on it. In July, they were asking $23,500 for it. In August, $22,000. Now, it's listed for $19,500. I'm holding out until I can find a 2004 or 2005 for between $15,500 and $17,000.

I'm also hoping that as gas prices go down further, the price of a used prius will go down as well.

I went into my local dealer today to get a new HYBRID fender badge, somehow it fell off, they had 2 Prius' on the lot. One was white, and one was the dark grey(graphite?). No markups

Thanks for the replies. Coincidentally, saw a story in NYT today that car sales are down 21% for September.

Here's hoping I can get a deal soon.

For those that purchased their Prius' earlier this year, the reason there was a "deal" on them is because there were many sitting on lots, and they had to discount them. Because there are waiting lists at many dealers now, there is no need to discount one below MSRP. True, car sales have been down for the year, but in that number, hybrid sales have continued to climb at an unbelievable pace.

    Hey, tundradreams (& others),

While I was at my local dealer yesterday getting my 65,000 mile oil/oil filter chg & tires rotated, I saw 2 new 2009 Priuses with discounts on the factory window sticker. The pkg 3 had a $450 discount & the pkg 5 had a $1,800 discount. That will make them pretty attractive again.
