    Yes and it looks very stylish! Toyota's gonna have a tough time if they wanna sell a sleek hybrid.

    Looks sharp. Hope the production version stays as good. Those side view mirrors look tiny.

    initially I thought it was a rip off of the prius, but the more I look at the original insight, the more I think it isnt... looks nice! according to video, it should be extremely well priced!

    Wow I love it. The white color looks alot like the "white diamond" paint that cadillac uses. I wonder what other colors there going to have for it. Finally the prius has some real competition.

    If they are going to be available in Spring '09 I would think we could see the production model by now. I'm most curious to know the interior volume of this thing. If it's comparable to the Prius I'll be seriously looking to make the switch.

    Note how short the back doors are compared to the Prius and the Prius has one more window behind the rear door which indicates to me this prototype is a much smaller car than Prius. They need to send the front bumper and grill designer back to VW, somewhere is a Jetta without a front end! I hate the obsession with chrome grills, too American for me.
    I have read reports that the Honda prototype is lower than Prius in profile too so this also implies less space inside, if you like the space in your Prius I wouldn't be ordering this one just yet. I'm taking my elderly parents to a wedding today, I know they can get in and out of the Prius easily, not so sure about this prototype Honda.
    Apart from the Jetta front end I really like the look of this Honda prototype. If it goes into production and if you are in the market for an economical 4 door 2+2 then this looks like it deserves some serious consideration.

    Its a mild hybrid like the Honda civic. Will get 40mpg city like the civic. Compare to Prius at 48mpg.

    uh... since this car isn't even on the STREET yet, how are you qualified to make that statement?

    They weren't swinging for the fences with this one. A low price seems to have been the top priority.

    "uses Honda's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid system and, as such, is considered a mild hybrid, because it doesn't drive the car under electric power only. IMA integrates a small electric motor with the transmission, which provides extra boost when the car is accelerating, and includes an idle-stop program."

    Not very impressive. And no potential for a plug-in.

    Honda was a leader in the hybrid market with the original Insight. I'm not sure why they've fallen back.

    I'm not sure setting realistic goals and producing an affordable car that is already in high demand as a "step back". I would like to se higher FE w/ plug in capability etc. but so far even Toyota is only in the rumor stages as far as this is concerned.

    What do you mean by leader? They haven't changed other than improving their IMA. The advantage of IMA is its smaller, more compact design and cheaper components thus giving a lower price. I'd say Honda has been moving forward. Sure, they're not pushing the boundaries like Toyota is but their focus is to get more people into hybrids.

    This statement is incorrect if not outdated. The Insight II will also be able to cruise on electric power only just as well as the current Civic Hybrid does.

    Also, it is not a mild hybrid but a power assist hybrid. There's quite a bit a difference.
