i have seen a trend on prius forums, where more people ask about DTC codes stored in the MFD (easter egg) but no real replies to what they actually mean. and to save you the hassle of logging on to toyota techweb., i typed them up for you all

when i have taken my prius under warranty for service checks, and have asked service advisors what the meanings are, they avoid this issue.

this should aid you in diagnosing problems with the mfd, bluetooth module, speakers, cd players, and everything AV-LAN related.

anytime the prius encounters an error, even as something simple as putting in a cd upside down, the MFD screen logs this event.

i am not sure if 'memory clear' is destructive or not. a lot of codes can be safely cleared out, and see if they come back.

I haven't tried it, but I believe the instructions in this thread tell you how to get to the diagnostics menu, and then you can retrieve the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Somebody please correct me if this isn't correct, or only works on certain models.

this has nothing to do with check engine codes, or the engine. its strictly for troubleshooting devices connected to the mfd or the av-lan, like the cd changer, radio, back up camera, speakers, dvd navigation system, mini disc system, the mfd itself, xm, sirius, the g-book, the cd player, the tape deck, etc etc

Can anyone repost how to get the diagnostics menu. The link "this thread" does not work for me. Thanks.

Awesome information - glad to find this - thanks rigormortis!!

Getting to the diagnostic screen is relatively easy (if your MFD is functioning that is...)

    1. Push "ON" button once without foot on brake.
    2. Press "info" button on the side of the MFD and hold while turning on the lights three times

That should take you to the diagnostic screen. From there you have lots of possibilities.

I used this site which I think is also referenced in the link above, but just in case:
