I am selling my 2006 top-of-the-line Toyota Prius, package #8, which includes all sorts of great features. I bought this car new for my commute from Palm Desert to north Orange County. I am no longer making that commute, so I no longer need the extra car. It has always been garaged and driven on the freeway 95% of its life.

It is in truly “like-new” condition and comes with the California carpool-lane stickers, which allow you to drive in the carpool lanes with just one person in the car. These stickers are no longer available.

This Prius Hybrid battery is under Toyota’s warranty for 10 years or 150,000 miles. This Prius also includes 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper Toyota Extra Care Warranty. Anything goes wrong, and it’s covered. I have had this car serviced only at Toyota dealers, every 5,000 miles, and have all the receipts and paperwork. It has never had any problems and I recently put new Goodyear tires on it. So you are, literally, all set to go, and go, and go….

This car gets 45 to 48 miles to the gallon. These are real-life numbers. My best was about 52 MPG, but real-life driving on the freeway going 70 to 80 miles an hour, I have always gotten 45 to 48 miles to the gallon—rarely lower. The Prius gets even better mileage in the city and tracks your mileage for you, and graphs it out on a screen.

The exterior color is called Seaside Pearl and the interior color is Quartz.
The interior colors are real nice, sort of a coffee color and tan. The windows are tinted, which makes the inside even more beautiful and “warm” with colors.

The “package 8” Prius comes with all of the Prius Options including:

Leather-trimmed seats and multi-function steering wheel.
From the steering wheel you can easily control the radio, air conditioner, navigation, your cell phone, and more. It’s very cool.

    Voice-activated DVD GPS navigation system.
The navigation is simple to use, and looks great. I have used navigations in a Mercedes, BMW, rental cars, and even a 2007 Toyota Sienna, yet the Prius Navigation is outstanding. Real easy to use. Uncomplicated. Punch in the multiple-addresses, places, restaurant names, whatever, and the Prius will get you there. You can also input addresses, etc., via your voice while you drive (although this takes more time…it’s easier to type them right into the screen). This may be my favorite feature in the car. Very easy to use--and make use of.

JBL Stereo System with am/fm 6-disc CD-changer (mp3/wma playback capability) with 9 speakers, iPod audio jack, and hands-free phone capability via the included Bluetooth system built into the car.
The stereo sounds amazingly good, for a stock system. Before I bought the car, I figured I’d have to put in a different stereo system, but I never had to. It sounds real nice. You can also include integrated satellite radio right into the unit. No wires, different components, or anything. The hands-free phone is the key here. Simple to use. Leave your cell phone in your pocket or wherever. Your “stereo” rings when you get a call, you hit a button on the steering wheel and simply talk. No headset, extra cables, microphones or nonsense. One of my favorite features!

Power supply connections in front and back for laptops, cameras, or other electronics.

    Rear backup camera.
I didn’t think this was a big deal, but honestly, I have a hard time driving cars without these now. Another favorite feature.

    Vehicle stability control.

Airbags everywhere. Driver and front passenger airbags; front seat-mounted side airbags; front and rear side curtain airbags.

    Smart key system.
I don’t think I will ever buy a car again without this simple, yet fantastic feature. This car has no “key” with a metal post sticking out. It has a small, square-ish keyfob. You leave the small square “key” fob in your pocket (or purse) walk up to the car--and when you grab the car door--the car unlocks all the doors and lets you in. Then you simply hit the “Start” button and drive away. Your “key” is still in your pocket. Then you get to your destination and park the car, hit the “Stop” button, get out of the car, close the door, push a button on the outside of the door, then the car locks and sets the alarm. You walk away with the “key” still in your pocket (or purse). It never leaves your pocket. This seems like such a simple non-item, but you will quickly come to love this feature. It makes getting in and out, loading groceries, luggage, lumber, the kids, whatever, extremely easy. Like I said, I don’t think I’ll ever drive a car without this.
This car comes with two separate “key” fobs.

    Anti-theft system.

    Auto-dimming rearview mirror with homelink.
Homelink is a feature where you don’t need to leave your garage-door “clicker” in your car anymore. There are buttons on the rear-view mirror, which will open your garage door, instead.

Xeon high-intensity-discharge headlamps, with integrated fog lamps.
These are actually way nicer than you’d think. Driving at night is very bright and safe.

    Tire-pressure monitoring system.

    Automatic AC.

Push button start and stop of car.

    Fantastic screen for the Navigation.

Back seats fold down with tons of cargo space.
One of my other favorite aspects of this car. Easy fold down seats, and enormous room for cargo, luggage, groceries, Home Depot stuff. You can use the Prius like a little pickup truck.

    Tinted windows.

Well, those are most of the highlights.
If you are new to the Prius, I hope that helped some.
Since I am no longer commuting, I no longer need this as my commuter car.
There is absolutely no reason everyone on the planet is not driving a Prius.
These cars are extremely practical, affordable, and dependable.

If you go to Edmunds.com and “Appraise My Car,” with all the miles and most of the options mine has (they do not even list all of them--including the extended warranty or carpool lane stickers), Edmunds places my car at $23,423.

If you go to Kelley Blue Book and “appraise” the Car Pool Lane stickers, they rate those between $2,000 and $4,000 alone.

I called Toyota Extended Warranty and told them I was selling my car. I asked them what they would give me in return for the portion of the Extended Warranty which I have not used yet (27,000 miles). They would “refund” me $600. However, I do not plan on “refunding” this warranty, so it will transfer to a new owner, as is, no problems at all. This has been verified via Toyota’s Extended Warranty department.)

$23,423 (Edmunds price without carpool lane sticker or extended warranty)
$ 3,000 (Average of Car Pool Lane sticker value, per Kelly Blue Book)
    $ 600 (Value of remaining 100,000 bumper-to-bumper Extended Warranty)
    ------------
    $27,023

    My fair-value price is $26,999.

As you can see I’m not looking to rip anyone off or anything like that.
I’m just looking to help a commuter out, and get rid of a car which I no longer need.

    ranchogirl,

I'm assuming this car has about 73,000 miles [100,000 minus the 27,000 unused miles of the extended warranty that he found out is worth $600 (accord'g to Toyota)].
