    Hi there,
I've asked this a few other ways but the question comes down to this.

Has someone out there successfully added an aux-input to the JBL 6 disk system? I've seen references to Aux-boxes, but it's unclear what units this works with. I also have read the Coastal Dave is working on an aux in unit, but that project seems to be a long way off (It's been talked about for almost a year). Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Narf,
It is my understanting that if the radio has external cd changer controls then you can connect an <a href=\'http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=705\' target=\'_blank\'>auxiliary input</a> device. The device you speak off is an ipod interface and auxiliary-- but for the money you can probable buy a whole new stereo.

    Quiet,
The JBL system has the 6 disk changer, radio, and cassette player in a single head unit. It has an external amplifer where all the audio controls happen including volume. I would guess that I could interupt the left and right line outs between the head and amp and build my own interface. I was hoping somebody had already tried this. As far as the Auxbox, I don't think it's that pricey. I've seen it for about 60 dollars. With the cables and such it should be under $100, and you get to keep all the control functions of the stereo.

    Narf,
I thought all the connections were on the radio (all but the audio output and controls that go to the amp). so if you were to add a factory XM or auxiliary input (the one i linked to was around $57) -- where would they connect? the amp of behind the radio?
If that 6-disc in dash changer has external changer controls the auxiliary would connect to it-- as for the price-- i was not referring to the Auxbox but the other mentioned in this forum (VAIS)

    Quiet,

I haven't had the radio out of the car yet so I don't know if there is a CD changer /XM input on the JBL 6Disk version. It's not shown on the wiring diagram (but the wiring diagram doesn't show it for the basic radio either). I was hoping someone here had that info. ALso, the unit you linked to has the following set of disclaimers:

"2. With the DF-TOY installed a CD Changer cannot be used at the same time, the adapter takes the place of the CD Changer.----[see our docking stations.]

    4. USASpec DF-TOY is not compatible with Toyota Navigation Radios, factory DVD or XM Radio Systems or Toyota Prius. "

Have you personally gotten this unit to work with the stock one piece 6 disk changer/cassette unit?

i think the cd changer reference is to an external one, (not built-in). I installed the df-toy unit in my girlfriends 4-runner equipped with a factory 6-disc changer radio-- she has to hit the "CD" button twice to access the ipod mini. The radio also has the factory xm option but it\'s not installed.
