Previously I had a Seimens S56 Bluetooth phone and it worked perfectly with my Prius. I have now been a victim of a burglary and no longer have the S56. I could not get another S56 from Cingular and settled for Nokia 6230, which is bluetooth.

Now, I can't get the Nokia 6230 to 'pair' with the Prius.

    Any suggestions?

I have a Nokia 6230 and had no problems getting it connected. I can't really help much about the process, I sort of did it automatically, but it was easy and connected first time.

I pulled TSB EL001-05 "bluetooth compatible cellular phones". I don't see the nokia 6230 listed as compatible w/prius or land cruiser. I suggest talking with your cell phone / plan provider for an exchange. I can't explain the post above with no problem connecting - unless his New Zealand car has different protocol for bluetooth connectivity.

Here is a quote from Toyota in this TSB
"Not all handsets contained in this TSB are approved by TMS. For a list of currently available, approved handsets, refer to the TMS/Letstalk co-branded website: http://toyota.letstalk.com

Well, all I can say is that my Nokia 6230 works perfectly. It still has the problem of transferring multiple phonebook entries that most phones have, but what the heck. I just sat for a while, listened to my favorite CD and transfered away - no problems!

I would have thought bluetooth was bluetooth regardless of country of origin. My cellphone connects to my MS Outlook 2003 on my Dell computer system with the same ease it does with the Prius. Perhaps the original poster has missed a vital step, who knows?

[/b][/quote]How do I disable Bluetooth on the car? Am tired of the "Failure to connect" message.

    Telephone .. Settings .. Bluetooth .. Delete.

Delete all your connections and that should stop it. Might I also suggest that once you do that, try to reconfigure your 6230. It works perfectly and I suspect that you may have had it set incorrectly - eg, did you remove your old Seimens S56 before you initally tried to connect the Nokia 6230? If not it may have tried connecting to the Nokia with the Seimens settings which probably don't work.
