by default, the cigarette lighter power turns off after the car is turned off. Any ideas how to change this so it stays powered on after I turn the car off?

    Thanks!

Have you looked into if they become hot at any of the various "ON" stages on the car? With your foot off the brake, press the ignitiion button. You can cycle through 2 (it might be three) divisions by hitting the button multiple times.

While the car is still technically "on", it is not "running".

Right now, I can't track down the list of the things that the dealer can do with their setup controller, but I thought one of them was to have the 12V outlets hot all the time.

Hopefully I'm not giving out misinformation, but until someone points out I'm wrong I'll still remember it that way...

With my old BMW, I could leave my cell phone to charge overnight in the car.

Has anyone found a solution to leave the 12V "power outlets" on all the time?

    Thanks,
    Jay

solution: I used the mod as described by coastal dave for the 1G in my previous post. I used one of the ancillary empty fuse holders (3 up) from where the auxulliary powere fuse is. pretty simple and you can just use a plain old wire for the install... no need to buy any accessories(unless you feel the need)

I now have a 2nd line bluetooth phone (my treo 600 doesnt have bluetooth) and it stays charged the whole while I am not driving the car.
