My Prius is a 2002, with 13500 miles on it. My wife told me she could not change her presets on the radio, so I checked it out and I also could not reset the radio. It seems to have defaulted to a jumble of stations from where she had set it previously. The owner’s manual said it might be a fuse that has gone out. I have looked at all of the fuse box’s and can not find a fuse that is identified back to the radio. Is there a secret fuse some place other than the fuse boxes identified in the owners manual.

Can one of you folks shed some light on my problem? I would hate to take it to the dealer if it is something I have just overlooked or something I can do my self. Thanks for any help with this problem. Skipdvs

its been my experience with my 2007 that just playing a scratched cd can cause your radio to lose its presets

That is very interesting. After you loose your presets how did you get them to work again? My presets do not respond to the press and hold until you hear a beep. I do not get a beep no matter how long I press the station button. Is there a reset to the system?

You could try removing the radio fuse(s) (there's probably two, one for car on and one for always on -- the always on one is the one that retains settings).

Or you could unhook the 12v battery for a few minutes.

OK thanks folks I got it working again. I unhooked the battery for a few minutes and now my radio presets are working just fine. If this car has two radio fuses, it would be nice to know where they are located. I did check every fuse in all three-fuse boxes and all looked good. It would be nice to have a proper fuse location map.
This car must be like my old PC, you just have to reboot it when things go wrong. Again thank you all for your interest in my problem and helping to solve the problem.

What I meant is temporarily remove the fuses, in order to cut power from the radio without having to disconnect the battery.

Unfortunately I don't have a fuse diagram for the Gen I, so I don't know which are the radio fuses.
