We have a 2009 prius with almost 2500 miles. Recently we have noticed a vibration that seems to come from the rear right end. This seems to occur early on in driving and the weather has been noticebly cooler.

Any ideas on things to look into since it seems after driving around the noise diminishes some however do hear it every so often.

    Check tire air pressure
    Check wheel balance
Snow or mud stuck to wheel?
    Rear wheel bearing failure?

That pretty much summs it up. I would do this in this order:
Check for mud stuck to wheel
    Check tire pressure
    Check wheel balance
    Check bearings

Are you sure it's not the ICE running? It can be a little rough until fully warmed. Sometimes sounds and vibrations are not where you think they are coming from.

Well the vibration started when it go colder out lows in upper 20s and 30s and highs in 40's. However last few days we have been back to 64 - 73 degrees and dont hear it at all. The vibration always comes from right rear and now that I think of it our avalon may have done similar in cold. So now I am wondering if its just vibration of the exhaust system till it warms up.

Sometimes if car sits awhile when cold the tires will take a funny shape, ie it will be slow to lose the flat spot where the tire sits on the ground for awhile till tires get warmed up. Also could be a belt coming loose inside the tire.

We have had that problem after backing though a pile of snow. It packs in the wheel and throws off the balance.

Installing rear sway bars can probably help.
