I have also been researching a clear protective coating for my 05. However I found few competitors here in San Diego. The one I did find is a ClearBra associate and he is just opening his business. He told me that he could come to my location and install it too. The price is a little daunting, even with the lifetime guarantee and custom fit for any car.

    $899.00

Check the www site for an installer near you. Though, I had to call the 888 number.

I got a rock ding in my hood that left a finger print sized dent, and took a bit of paint. I don't think the plastic bra would have prevented the dent, but it would have protected the paint. The problem is that the hood is made of aluminum and is softer than steel even if it's lighter.
I have a plastic bug guard which I got from Toyotatown in Langely, BC. The rock hit just above the top edge of the bug guard.
I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who actually heard an impact but had no damage. It's hard to tell if the bra is working if you never know whether you've been hit or not.

We just picked up our TP and put a clear bra on the entire front bumper w/ wrapped edges - custom application. Will post pics tomorrow since the rain stopped here in Northern California.......... would not recommend anyone trying to install it on this car.......one of the toughest vehicle to install a one piece bra on the entire bumper without any relief cuts......

When I was dropping off my 05 Salsa this morning for window tinting, I inquired about the invisible bra. I was told that it tends to be "less invisible" with darker colors and "more invisible" on white and silver. He wasn't pushing it, but did look up the pricing for the Prius and quoted $208 for the nose and mirrors. Just passing the information along. These guys seem to have a good reputation.

I used 3m product in bulk and protected my hood and mirrors on the Prius. The hardest install I did was the one peice install on the front bumper of my 2004 WRX STi. It took 3 hours to get it right.

Go to 3m site and you can put in your Zip code and find an installer in your area. That's what i did.

I am thinking of installing the product for other people. There are not good installers here in GR MI

    They all suck.

I got my Seaside about 3 weeks ago and had the clear mask applied right away. In Colorado, there is a great deal of "junk" on the roads in the winter and I think it is necessary. Boulder Toyota contracts this with an excellent installer who has done about 100 Prii's. The most important difference with this installer is that he puts the 3m 18" material on the front rather than the usual 12". I definitely think that this is the way to go.

Both Prius's have the "clear poly bra" installed in Massachusetts. The 02 has been on for 3 1/2 years and looks excellent. That's why the 05 had to have it. Had another 02, "Aqua Ice Opalescent", for 80k miles and it got blasted pretty good without one.

    Where? How?

I need to find an installer for a 3m invisible bra I already purchased. I went to the 3M site as you suggested and looked around but couldn't find where to find an installer in the San Diego area.

I really don't want to call every detailer in the yellow pages.

Can you be a little more specific on navigating the 3M site so I can find a list of installer in San Diego, CA?

    Thanks.

Well I had one installed on my '05 - it is the second car I have a clear bra on. I would not be w/o one.

Cost me $400 if I recall, and he did the regular kit, (hood, bumper and mirrors, then he did the door edges just in case as well as a small piece below the gas door. I also have the headlight and fog light kit with much thicker material to protect them from cracks.

Given my commute, this is essential if I do not want my car to look like it has freckles w/in 12 months.

Try this. It's not the same site I went to but it asks for your state and city instead of zip. I tried it for my area and it worked fine.Let me know if this works. I could explain how I navigated to this but this should be a lot easier for you.

If you are talking about Automacs they are a horrid little shop that detroys more kits than they install. They destroyed a kit and still wanted to charge me labor. I had to purchace another kit. I did a better job than they did

AUTOMACS in Grand Rapids michigan is one shop to stay away from.

    Perfect!

    That worked perfectly!

There are two in my area. I'm calling both first thing tomorrow. Thanks.
