(Ok, I had to post this after hearing about it on TiVo Community [you need to have an account there to see the thread]).

    Here's the infomercial:

It's an infomercial for this thing called "slap chop" and to quote from TiVocommunity:
See if you can pick up out some other choice quotes from the video. :D

This is the guy who ran the Shamwow infomercials that had 3 faked demos. Easy to pick out if you watch carefully.

Poor Vince thinks he's Billy Mays.:D We're actually talking about the Shamwow on the Meguiars Detailing Forum. One of my local friends and also a member on there got the Shamwow for CHristmas so we're going to be testing it on my car:eek: sometime this weekend to see if it really dries it all without scratching or marring the paint....I will post reviews here:focus:

Just saw the infomercial on The Weather Channel.

I've had a chopper like that for years, bought it at Ames (remember them? They bought out the old Zayre's) for something like $6.99.

EZW1 is right...a glaring example is the liquid around the carpet disappearing between scene shots when he returns and soaks liquid thru the carpet.

I suspect it will dry a car just like any synthetic chamois that has been sold at auto parts stores and flea markets for the past 20 years.

What I don't get about those choppers is that you have to get out a knife and cut your food down to a small enough size to fit under the chopper anyway. Why not just finish the job with the knife and cutting board you are already using?

Some smarty pants has to come along and spoil the fun.
I always know those things are dumb but now I know why.
They are easy to clean but!!
Would you chop nuts with a knife? When did you last chop nuts?

Personally, I refuse to allow a knife anywhere near nuts that need chopping or
otherwise. Even a small miscalculation or slip and you have problems...

As IIRC, Mr' Wayne Bobbit can attest.

Yes, I WOULD chop nuts with a knife. I actually do it often. The last time was probably a only a couple weeks ago. I regularly eat oatmeal (steel cut) with chopped pecans or walnuts for breakfast. However, if I needed to chop a larger quantity I would probably break out the chopper attachment that came with my stick blender.

I actually like those food choppers, and think they're among the more useful of kitchen gadgets.

But I like the old style ones better -- the ones with a glass or plastic jar on the bottom (instead of the open bottom one the shamwow guy is selling), like this one:

    [IMGLINK]http://www.fantes.com/images/19226choppers.jpg[/IMGLINK]

I think they're one of the first kitchen gadgets. They've been around for something like a hundred years.

Earliest kitchen gadgets were things like a weight driven rotator for a spit and a reflective foil roaster that reflected the heat to the other side of the meat for faster cooking

Yeah, I'm talking about modern kitchen gadgets.

I'm thinking that a mortar and pestle might be among the earliest of what someone might call a kitchen gadget.

Needs to do a ChopWowJuicer next. Spread a Shamwow on the counter, put down a peeled orange, cover and chop with the Chopwow, wring out the shamwow over a glass and BINGO....Now that's a tasty glass of fresh OJ! But that's not all, don't like pulp, you get no pulp, flip the shamwow over and pulp to taste. But that's not all...there's no cleanup! Counter top never gets wet, just throw the Shamwow into the washing machine!

    Koa, that's great! LOL!!! :p

I usually chew nuts, or use the food processor attachment of my Bosch. Generally, I like nuts just the way they are.
