So I remember reading a little while ago that Toyota had signed a deal with Sirius to make tuners available and one was made for the Avalon (whose XM Tuner works with the Prius).

Has anyone seen the Avalon Sirius tuner yet? If so, has anyone tried installing it?

I am anxious to hear about this too! I really hope that Sirius is available for Prius. I need this before Jan 06' when Howard Stern switches!

I couldn't get serious about Sirius; so I bought an XM with wireless FM connection to the Prius FM. Unfortunately the XM vendor failed to mention that the XM antenna had to be outside the Prius and the antenna was connected to the XM by a long obtrusive wire. So my Prius question is this:

Is there some way to use existing antenna or electrical conduit/channels in the Prius to unobtrusively string an antenna wire from the outside to the inside front of the Prius cockpit where the XM receiver would be located?

I'd appreciate some insight from anyone who has had similar issues and solved them. Thanks.

I have the PriusXM integrated radio in my car and following the instructions on the included DVD I installed the XM antenna on the roof just in front of the rear hatch on the passenger side.

The cable goes inside of the weather stripping along the hatch area then goes down behind the right rear quarter panel where it connects to the tuner.

From there, the radio control cable runs behind the passenger side rear seat down and inside the small tunnel traversing the rocker panel up to the right front passenger footwell kick panel where you thread it up into the dash.

    Hope this helps!

Super...thanks. Once I have the antenna lead inside the car, I'm home free because my rcvr xmits FM to the Prius system. No threading or connection to the Prius FM is necessary. It was just the antenna that was giving me fits. Thanks again.

does anyone has pictures of a non-integrated install (Sirius or XM). I'm going with Sirius (had it in my old car) and was considering installing the Sportster bracket to the underside of the center console. Any thoughts on this??? Thanks.

Some posts I've read over on the Sirus Backstage forums suggest that release of the tuner has been delayed to this summer, or possibly even this fall.

I'm in the same boat as GaithersburgPrius, so as long as the kit is released before January, I am all set :D

I just got my 2005 Prius last week with the package #9 so I have the GPS, CD player, etc. I have not been able to get any info regarding Sirius from either the dealer or the XM/Sirius vendor.

The dealer says the car is XM capable. The XM/Sirius vendor says they don't know and that I will have to install the small player on my dash. I want it to be integrated into the display screen....

Is this available or do I have to have the extra piece of equipment installed?
    Thanks!

Yes, public radio FM/AM is just awful!! Not only that, I took delivery of my Prius without checking to see if it had a cassette player. No more iPod listening through the cassette adapter :(
Hurry up Sirius!! I can't stand it

FWIW, I have a Roady2. The antenna sits on the dash and the unit is bolted to a flexible stem mountd to a pasenger seat bolt.

I purchased the Toyota Solara XM radio and installed it myself. I plugged a wire from the tuner into the back of my 2004 Prius #9BC radio, put the tuner on top of the amplifier (which is under the RF passenger seat), and put the antenna on the right front side of the dash (attached to dash with velcro). The antenna wire is seen for about four inches when it goes into the front part of the cover by the small triangle window on right. Works well and is so completely integrated that voice commands bring up Sat 1, 2, and 3, for 18 preset stations. The steering wheel button moves up and down the preset stations for each Sat.
