Well since the T-Mobile H6513 now has an update I can initiate calls from the Prius screen where as before I couldn't. Whoever did the comparisons might want to do the upgrade and see if it helps any. My issue is that I have trouble understanding people coming through the speakers. I'm going to play with the quality and see if that helps.

Just took delivery of my 05 Prius last week. The first thing I did was setup the Bluetooth. Myself and my wife both have bluetooth phones. I have a Blackberry 7520 and my wife has an LG VX8100. My Blackberry works very well with my Motorola cordless ear piece but its horrible using the Prius. When using the Prius I get lots of feed back noise and my voice keeps cutting out and glitch. Using the LG VX8100 we’re getting some better results but not as good as it should be. Incoming voice quality is good but outgoing voice quality is “tinny†and cuts in and out. I must say that I'm very disappointed with the Prius's Bluetooth technology.

I'm using a Verizon/Motorola e815, and not experiencing any problems.

There is a slight degradation outbound to my work phone's voicemail when I compare using the phone by itself and using it over the Prius Bluetooth connection, but unless I listen to the two calls in a row, I can't notice it. It's still plenty clear even at 70 MPH.

I talked to my sister over two different days, once on the phone alone, and once from the car, and she couldn't tell the difference.

In both directions my calls are clear and noise-free, no feedback, no tinnyness. The Prius is not a full-duplex system, so you have to take turns talking. You also need a relatively quiet environment, like 'windows up'. So far neither of these items have been an issue for me.

I don't know how many variables there are in making a good connection, but mine seems fine. I'm happy. :)

I have used both the Sprint LG PM325 and the T-Mobile Motorola V330. I did find that it was harder to hear the person on the other end with the Sprint/LG. I have had no problems with voice quality with the Motorola V330.

I think the best solution is to try phones that toyota.letstalk.com recommends and see if any of them work better :D

I had no idea that Toyota would be "phone specific" regarding there bluetooth connection. I think that is outrageous! I just bought the freaken phone last week and signed a 2 year contract with Verizon and none of Toyota's phones are with Verizon. Major bummer!!!!

We don't know it is phone specific, we just know some people like the connection, and some don't. We don't know why.

I think Verizon has a 2-week period where you can take the phone back, don't panic...

I do belive the reason is that Verizon "locks" their phones and the bluetooth so that it can only be used with specific accessories. I know T-mobile used to do this years ago with other features to encourage buying their accessories. This is why the same basic phone (perhaps a different frequency) will work with the Prius and other carriers versions will not.

Toyota.letstalk.com is just a phone service provider, not an official Toyota site.

Yes, I know that the website is a third party but, I gotten this website from the official Toyota site [of the Prius], which provided the information as follow:

"To view a list of Toyota-recommended Bluetooth®[1] enabled phones and pairing instructions, visit toyota.letstalk.com."

I use a Nokia 6230. The mic works well but the sound system (or perhaps the BT radio transfer quality of the phone) works awfull. Are there other Nokians with the same complaint or is the JBL sound system?

Search for "Nokia 6230" on this site. I only went through a handful of postings, but I didn't see any complaints. Most of these people were shown as being in the US, though.
