my name is Troy and i just bought a (new to me) Prius!!!

i was just hoping to receive a warm welcome here in this forum, and was wondering if any of you might want to help me out and point me in the right direction to get some performance modifications done to my Prius.

    Thanks!

I can't help you with performance modifications, as I didn't see any need for them, but I can say hello and welcome.

Let me add an edit: I did swap out the OEM Goodyear Integrity tires for real tires. That could be considered a performance modification. I considered it a safety issue.

Tom, what tires did you buy as replacements? Are the stock Goodyear's not good in certain types of weather/terrain, or just don't have the grip you're looking for? I don't have my car yet, but that sounds like something I'll need to be aware of. Thanks...

EDIT - Oh, and welcome hobo!

    thanks guys!

i seem to be getting a few looks in this car, at least i did at the gym the other night.

i was asking about performance modifications to maybe give it a little more jump ... more pep when i accelerate, but i still want to keep it economical.

Most want more mileage and not more bang for the buck but you can do a search on "performance". Welcome to the group.:welcome:

Hey Santiago. I like where you are going with mileage. I have a close friend who makes fuel injectors. I am going to sacrifice my car and try to run some small fuel injectors and re-tune the ecu for lower fuel consumption.

Do you know of any ecu tuning software?

You can still beat a Hummer off the line, that's all that mattered to me. Since the Prius doesn't have gears, it accelerates deceptively smoothly, and usually have no problems keeping up. But a stick shift driven by somebody who knows how to use a stick and wants to race is a different matter.

You shouldn't be getting dusted by SMARTs. 0-60 is 12-14s on the Fortwo, Prius is ~10. If you feel the need for speed, make sure your battery is full and ICE is running before launching. You can accomplish both by going into "force charge" mode. This is accomplished by holding the brake pedal and down and pressing on the gas. Having the battery in the green will encourage the car to use full electric boost on launch. Having the ICE already running gets rid of the delay associated with starting it, so more power is available sooner. The traction control is also a bit touchy (particularly with stock tires). If you trip TC you'll lose a lot of ground, so having a good feel for how hard you can push it is helpful.

Or you can just be content knowing that you are getting better mileage in a car twice as big ;)

What is a "G Touring"... and what color is your Prius?

That and your nickname reminds me of this outlandish story my sister told one time...

    Hi Troy
Congratulations! I just got a 2007 last week. I really love it. At first I noticed less torque than my Accord, but in the past two days i finally used it for work, i drive many miles in the field on freeways for my job, so i got more of a feel of what the car can do. I did about 300 miles between yesterday and today. The car seems to do whatever i need it to do. I mean like, if i want to pass another car on the freeway, that kind of thing. Anyway, enjoy.

By the way, i got HOV stickers on mine and and yesterday and especially today, i was in heaven in the Diamond Lanes, flying past traffic that a week ago i would've been sitting in. :-D

the way it was explained to me was basically the "GT" model, you know power everything, "sport" model, navigation, and little body trim accents...

    ...and it's silver.

    i <3 it.

    ...so - about this story...
