I have a new 2009 Prius with Package #4. I have Bluetooth connectivity so my iPhone 3G works great on the phone front. What I'd like is to have XM/Sirius and the iPhone (or any iPod) work via on-screen/steering wheel controls. So I have a few questions:

I think I'd prefer the factory satellite installation to aftermarket ones. What are the part numbers and the best place I can buy that kit?

What is the best iPhone 3G/iPod integration kit that will work with the above satellite kit? It looks like the DiCE kit may work pretty well for this. Can anyone confirm the DiCE kit will work with the factory satellite kit?

Thanks for help on this. I appologize if this has already been covered, I did search before I posted.

the official toyota ipod dock cancels out the satellite radio, you cannot have both installed at the same time

you need to find one gadget to work as a "cd changer" and another gadget to work as a "satellite radio" in order for this to work

    Thanks for the info.

I was actually looking to use the factory satellite receiver and an aftermarket iPod adapter. So using it that way, I'd need to find an iPod/iPhone3G adapter that acts like an external CD changer instead of using the SAT port, right?

Are there any issues with using this configuration?

well the factory satellite reciever will run you $300-450, you can get an aftermarket satellite kit for $150

theres a lot of info here about the scc1 and toy-sc1 units. you need both, ones a radio $49 and ones the interface $99

you can buy those anywhere, they even have them at sears now

as long as one is a 'satellite radio' and the other is a 'cd changer' this will work. the prius has support for only 1 satellite radio, but will allow 2 cd changers

    Awesome info...

I picked up the SCC1 from Best Buy ($60) and the TOY-SC1 from a local shop ($150) yesterday. It was a little more than online pricing but I wanted to get it in this weekend. I'll be starting the install in a couple hours.

I also called DiCE and their iToyotaR should be exactly what I need to get the iPod/iPhone3G installed as a CD Changer with the factory head unit.

I'll update this thread once I get the Sat installed and once again when I get the iPod working the way I want it.

    Thanks for the help...

I have an '09 Prius with Pkg 4 and the factory style (dealer installed?) iPod/MP3 connection in the glove box. However it appears you can not search the iPod from the factory radio side for artists, etc. All I can do, besides volume, is scroll up or down the playlist/artist/genre I am listening too.

Gotta go back to the dealer and ask why...but they'll probably just shrug their shoulders

From my research, a lot of the cheap kits that the dealers are using have lots of problems like the one you describe. I think I'm just going to order the DiCE kit and use that for the iPod connectivity.

As far as my Sirius install, it went well. It took about six hours to install but I really took my time to get everything done right the first time. The white distribution block in the dash is a real PITA to get back in due to the screw location. I must have been trying that for a good hour. My suggestion is to have a good magnetized screw driver and it should be a piece of cake.

Other than that, the SCC1/TOY-SC1 works perfectly. I get SAT1-3 presets and sufficient reception from the antenna in the spoiler. The best thing is that the TOY-SC1 has a Y cable in it so when I go to put in the DiCE unit, I don't have to remove the white distribution block I mentioned above. I just have to pull the vent and plug it into the Y cable extension.
