I just want to make sure that I'm reading this correctly, while it sounds simple to remove and replace, you don't actually need to remove it to change the oil, correct. I have my oil changes done at the dealer and I don't want them whining to me if I added the cover and they had to R&R it.

    Thanks

I have a question about what exactly gets protected. I looked at the picture of the skid plate. The large plate that covers most of the engine is obviously the "skid plate". What about the smaller plate forward of the large one? Is this part of the "skid plate package"? An extra? OE?

I designed our BT Tech Skid Plate so that normal maintence can be performed without any hassle or drama. There are two covers that are built into the skid plate and are easily removed. The drivers side cover is for access to the drain for the transaxle and the passenger's side cover is to access the oil filter. I designed the access holes so that there is plenty of room to get in there even if wearing gloves.

If you look at a picture of our skid plate you will also notice that there is a oval cutout in the plate. This is so that during an oil change, the oil will come out of the engine on an angle and the size/shape of the cutout assures that oil will drain properly into a container and not get all over the skid plate.

In other words whoever performs your oil changes with our skid plate installed will not have any issues.

Our BT Tech Skid Plate was desiged to protect the majority of the components on the underside of the engine. This includes the engine block, oil crankcase, transaxle/generator components and the lines and hoses that connect to the various fittings.

The "front" part of our plate is actually a seperate piece and is only attached to the front bumper assembly and not to the main skid plate. This is due to the fact that if someone had a minor collision in the front, I did not want the chin spoiler to push up on our skid plate and cause damage to the plate. This is included with your Skid Plate and is not an extra.

Thanks for the reply. As a result I went ahead & ordered the skid plate this AM. I live in central VT a few miles up a back (dirt) road. With frost heaves & such the winter & spring roads can be brutal. I'm hoping this will better protect the goodies under the hood.

Has anyone had their voltage line cover (white plastic casing over the 440volt lines) damaged? I landed in the ditch, after being hit, my gas tank and line cover were damaged. Insurance questioned if that damage didnt really occur under normal driving.

Is there a rear skid plate?

Does anyone know if the left/right wheel well wings (pictured below) are critical to the installation?

If anyone has these wheel well wings, or an old skid plate laying around that I could borrow/buy/etc.

Also curious what the black colored mounting hardware was, some type of slip on nut?
