Yesterday i picked up my '06 from the dealer. Since i bought it a week ago they had reverse parking sensors installed, snow tires put on and a full service done.

I put 100 km of road under the tires on the first day as a Prius owner, both in city traffic as well as some highway driving. The car not only meets, but exceeds my expectations. Prius is really a great car!

Now i just need to get the workaround/hack right so i can turn of the really, really, really annoying reverse beep. Not only is it annoying (and useless for people not impaired in some way), it also almost drowns out the beeps from the parking sensor.
I tried it once last night, with no result.

Not quite so annoying, but merely a bit disappointing, is that the dashboard clock is in 12h-format only.

A small detail like that really turns of the feel of a modern car. You are almost expecting to be forced to use the medieval measurement units (those used by people who still can't understand the fully logical and sensible metric system) for speed and gas as well.

With that said -- i really need to say it again: Prius is a really great car! A couple of friends who went on a ride with me yesterday were blown away and instantly started considering buying a Prius.

Congrats on the car! No better way to spread the word than to take friends for a ride.

I have noticed there is a lot of curiousity out there. The Prius got a boost in Sweden a couple of years ago when Stockholm started charging congestion fees getting in and out of the city. The Prius, and other green vecicles are exempt until mid 2012.

Government also gives a tax credit on Prius:es being used as a company benefit car.

Although people don't really know much about the car. I get a lot of questions on how it works -- and also on the myths and rumors surrounding the Prius.

On another note, it seems like the reverse beep can't be turned off in the EU-version. That really sucks. I got to have a talk to my local dealer.

    Hi
I got an 06 exec in the summer and I feel the same about the badly annoying reverse beep. I asked the local dealer but they do not know how to turn it off or to only beep once. If you or someone got some instruction or information for the Toyota dealer to use on how to change it in software, please tell. Searching for this on PC so far only talk about hardware hacks to remove or dampen the internal buzzer.
Also I think we should start a Swedish Prius User Group. I do not seam to be able to do it myself yet, maybe I need to do some more posting, starting with this first post.
