I don't see the front tweeters no more. Are the front speakers now coax?

Any guesses or info on the suggested price range for this new 2010 prius?

Also, any engineering details of the revised trans-axle and drive train arrangement for the 2010 Prius?

I hope they kept the energy usage meter. That really helped teach me to improve my driving habits.

    Looks cool, though.

What I'd like to know is how much they improved the usability and accuracy of the voice command system. It was awfully chatty, clumsy and inaccurate in my '07.

Standard version of the 2010 Prius. This is what would be the equivalent of Pckg #2 on the Gen 2's. It loses the screen for a standard audio config, no BT, no Laser Cruise Ctrl, but it looks like it still has the Parking Assist button to the upper left of the shifter. Two-toned cloth seats?

Front tweeters are in the upper corners of the instrument panel next to the windshield.

I did not notice that the cloth seats are two-tone.

Inverter is physically smaller. 201.6V now uplifted to 650V instead of 500V for more efficiency.

The MGs are smaller. The transaxle has gear reduction so that MG2 can spin faster, up to 10K RPM IIRC. Less torque is now output by MG2, my guess is that 2G had too much low-end torque which resulted in wheelspin and drivetrain shutdown under slippery conditions.

1.8L is the worldwide gasoline engine, the point of the larger engine is to allow lower RPM under freeway conditions, thus improving mpg. 0W-20 and 5W-20 are the allowable engine oil viscosities.

Combined EPA mpg estimate is 50 mpg. The ECO button is supposed to improve these results 10% by making the powertrain slow to respond to accelerator pedal input.

    Pricing not yet available.

I snap this from the Chief Engineer's notebook. The difference between the Power and Eco mode is only 4.2% for the 15" rim. Maybe it is the old data but the combined average fuel economy is 50 MPG.

102 photos and I did not see one looking into an open driver's door, showing the entire driver's seat.

Can someone please post up or point to a 2010 Prius photo showing this type of view -

Nice info. Though, I'm not sure where you get 4% from. From what I can tell, the ratings are essentially the same between power modes (Power, Normal, Eco).

There is a significant difference in fuel economy between the 215 and 195 width tire. Though I wonder what's up with the 185 tire data at the bottom?

4.2% = difference between 71.2 and 70.9, which are presumably the ECE mpg figures for ECO and Power.

That bottom row (690N) is the current Prius.

If they don't offer a "sport package" or something with an all-black interior, I'm going to have to paint those silver strips on the steering wheel black myself then (I'm not lazy, but I'll probably have a body shop paint it for me to make sure it's done right since it's going to be in front of my face every day). Otherwise, maybe I'll just use a Sharpie. LOL! :D
Don't worry, I'll make sure the body shop does a professional-quality job. I'll be much happier if I find out that Toyota offers an OEM option to black those "alien" things out though.

    Toyota copied ....... Toyota!
2010 Toyota Prius versus 2004 Toyota Echo ...

It's not identical, but when I was going for a walk earlier today, I walked by an ECHO and I stopped and stared - when looking at the front-ends, directly head-on, aside from "details," the basic shape is VERY similar. These pictures are not very convincing - you need to actually look at a newer ECHO directly head-on, in person. Try it. You'll see what I'm talking about.

Ken, are you there? Please? Without that info this image is useless, I'm sorry to say... :(

Hey Danny, the pix you posted in that other non-replyable thread
still aren't the fullsize originals that, say, Htmlspinnr posted
later. WHY are there so many different versions of these supposedly
official shots? Why are people bothering to postprocess them
and lose detail from the originals?

My guess is that the shaded cells are the actual raw data from actual testing. The EPA takes the raw CAFE data and adjusts it down to the EPA sticker numbers with a mathematical formula.

I read somewhere that Honda is planning to start selling the Insight on April 22. Do you think Toyota would try to release the Prius fairly close to that date ?
