What do these mean?

    I have has my Prius for 6 weeks now. And reading priuschat I have found "codes". What are thses items: HV battery, ICE, EV switch, S-4 and S-5, MFD, Soc, and SKS.
    And how does a scngauge help get a better MPG?

    I'm sure there's a FAQ around here somewhere:
    HV battery - the big high voltage battery behind the back seats,
    ICE - internal combustion engine (gas engine)
    EV switch - electric vehicle mode only (not on US models by default, though will be on the 2010),
    S-4 and S-5 - stages of Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) operation
    MFD - Multi-function display (big screen on your dashboard)
    Soc - State of Charge - how full the HV battery is
    SKS - Smart Key System
