    hayesb2,
Possible. I could play my cell phone's mp3 music on my Prius's driver-side speaker.
The Prius has no A2DP profile support, which would enable you to play stereo music (needs two channels of Bluetooth) on your Prius. However, with only one channel, it could send the GPS voice guidance of your cell phone on Prius (if paired and connected).
However, this still depends on the implementation of your cell phone. Depending on whether it sends GPS voice thru BT when it is connected. In my case of Moto V3xx cell phone, my music can play thru BT on my Prius.

P.S. if your cell phone has A2DP (such as HTC Diamond/Pro - ATT Fuze), then it may not work since Prius does not
support A2DP (such as 2009 Mazda CX9 does). The mismatched profiles may confuse the connection. Again, it all
depends on the implementation of BT.

I didn't realize that Bluetooth was available without the Nav system. Is this new, or did I have my facts wrong?

The newer Prius have separate availabilities for BT and NAVI.
    Starting from 2007 or 2008, I think.

Bluetooth and nav are separate items. The only thing that would cause a car -not- to have bluetooth without nav. would be Toyota packaging.
e.g. Canadian cars have bluetooth without nav. in the package I got. The next lower package doesn't have bluetooth. The next higher package has bluetooth -and- nav. (there are three packages in Canada). ;)

As explained above, there are two types of bluetooth, one mono and one stereo. Prius currently has the mono version.

Hi. What kind of problem do you have? What happens when you try to call out? Do you give a command like 'Dial number?' Are you trying to call out while you're driving, or sitting still? There are limitations on what it will allow a user to do while driving, obviously for safety. Mine can be tricky for calling out. Unfortunately, when i'm driving and i use the 'Dial number' command, it won't let me dial the number myself, for safety's sake, but it will allow me to speak the number. But unfortunately, if i'm driving, it can't hear the number. There's too much interference from the noises of a moving car. It comes up with various different creative guesses about what number it thinks i said, but no matter how slowly, clearly, or carefully i say the number, it will always stick an extra number in or more, or will change the number i said into something else. Very frustrating. If that feature worked, it would make my life easier. If I'm sitting still or driving slowly on a quiet street, it can hear the number and dial it accurately, but when i'm driving fast on the freeway, it apparently picks up other noise from the car and tries to guess what number it thinks those sounds are. I would love to have a way to get the microphone to pick up my voice better and to not be so sensitive to interference from other noise. The speed dialing works well. What happens when you try to use that?
