Thanks for the immediate reply. I wasn't pushing the Park button. Here's what I just did and it still didn't work. While still holding the Trip/ODO I move the shifter to R and back again, then pushed the Park button, then let go of Trip/ODO. Still no good. Any other tips?

No, the only thing I suggest is to start at the very beginning, step one of the instructions:

Turn car on to ready, cycle the ODO through trip a, trip b and back to ODO and then power off.

Carefully go through the steps, remember, you don't push ODO until the car is in READY mode, then hold for 10 sec, then do the Reverse then Park button thing and the b-on should show on the LCD.

In most cases one of the tiny details isn't being adhered to b/c it's assumed that something else will happen, try to follow the details explicitly, it should work.

I got it! I thought that making sure the light on the Park button was off before pressing it might do the trick. It did. Thank, thank you.

True, it would be easier, but I figure there is a one word answer for why you have to jump thru all the hoops - lawsuit. If it were easy, somebody somewhere would invariable disable the beep, the back into something because the car "quit beeping"...then file a lawsuit. I suppose this way, if someone disables it, they can pretty much show that it was far from an "accidental" change. FWIW, I disabled the reverse beep on my 2005 Prius just a few minutes ago. Followed the instructions and had it completed in less than a minute.

Just as an FYI, I was able to eliminate both the Reverse beep and the (mostly) the seatbelt beep on the '05 Prius. By mostly, it still beeps 3-4 times on startup if I don't have the belt buckled, but it does not beep after that, even if the belt is unbuckled during driving (which I usually only use when getting my keycard out of my pocket in the work parking lot).

For the seatbelt beep, I _did_ have a passenger in the pass seat, and my belt was buckled before I started.

Is there a way to use this process to eliminate the single beep for every touch screen action? That is the one that drives me crazy.

    Hi from Greece
In my 5/04 Prius solve this problem with disconnect the sensors of Seatbelt Beep. This sensor is under both driver seat and passenger seat. But becurful don't disconnect the sensors of airbangs. The seatbelt sensors is in front side of seats and the sensors for the airbangs in rear side of the seats.

First, THANK YOU for this great information! I'm going to try it immediately. Just one question, does anyone know if disabling the reverse beep voids any of the warranties? Thanks!

Gee....did'nt realize that my query would generate so many helpful responses. My Wife has acute hearing and the beeps sure do annoy her.

I have printed out all your messages and will endeavour to follow instructions. Perhaps I may have to get back to you.

    Much appreciated.

Thank you for the Reverse Beep fix! One of the first (negative) things (wait--the ONLY negative thing) my son commented on was the "idiot beep." I'm so proud of myself getting rid of it on my own---with a little help from my friends here!

I followed instuctions perfectly and tried to eliminate reverse beep 25-35 times with no success. I've read and followed all the comments in this thread (eg making sure noone in is passenger seat, making sure park light comes on etc) but still no luck. I tried the seat belt beep elimination and it worked first time ! Anyone have anyideas why this isn't working for switching off the reverse beep ? This is an Aussie 'i-Tech' spec car with all the fruit (inc Sat Nav, leather, reverse camera, EV button etc). I am holding down the brake during whole operation (though I've tried it without too) and I have the parking brake on. I am just about out of ideas ! Anyone care to help a poor cousin from down-under who hates beeps !!!

Only thing I can imagine is that you're doing it wrong. And because I REALLY like your screen name, I'll give you some help. :) Try reading this (just mildly re-worded from the official one) and see if it makes any more sense.

    http://www.darelldd.com/ev/prius_beeper_disable.htm

Do you get the b on or b off indicator? Get anything?

G'day Darrell, geesh that was a quick response !! Thanks I'll check out your reworded link right now once I get off the PC. As for my name, thanks, its the name of my company "Electric Vehicles" www.evehicle.com.au at present we don't actually do full sized electric cars, but commercially there is a market opening up down here for electric personal transport like e-bikes, e-scooters, mobility scooter, golf carts etc. The Prius i-Tech is my new company car !! We are thinking of distributing one of the plug-in kits for the Prius down the line and have looked at the Reva electrc car from India too.

I'll let you know how I get on with the new instructions, my only concern is that maybe the regulations down here are different and the beep is not able to be disabled or something, though only trucks here have reverse beeps usually.

:( nope. still not seeing the B-on B-off indicator. Once I finish the sequence (using your sequence, but what I've been doing anyway to be honest) nothing on the display changes (ie no B-on/off) until when I let go of the ODO button when it just flicks to Trip A and I swear at the thing again !

Therein lies your problem. I seem to remember reading somewhere on PriusChat that this procedure only works on North American specs Priuses.
