I bought my 2007 Prius (base model) in April 2007, I have close to 18,000 miles, and glad to say, that the car handles the bumps very well, and without noise, so I hope it's safe to say, that if I haven't heard anything up to this point, nor has any of my passengers....my car does not have that problem.

I had a persistent chirping noise going over moderate bumps. I discovered that when braking over bumps, the chirp would not happen. Took car to the dealer and described the problem. Dealer installed a "fit kit" on the front brakes and the noise is gone. I believe the kit consists of shims and a super heavy grease.

I finally got the noise fixed !!! (This was a mettalic rattle or knock coming from the front left, and was most apparent travelling at low speeds - say 15 to 25 mph - when the front left wheel hit a bump.)
The garage tried replacing the front left shock and top plate. They took out the whole dash (twice) because they thought the noise may be inside the car. They removed the fender, hood, wiper and wiper rail. They tried spot welds everywhere.
The final diagnosis was the transmission mount. They actually saw evidence of metal to metal contact at the mount, and they put some additional insulation in between the mount.

In total, they had the car in the shop for about 8 days !!
    But it's finally fixed - yeah !!

So glad I found this post. My 2007 with only 6K miles on it started making a squeaking noise (yes, it goes squeak, squeak) when going over any sort of bump or manhole, drain grate or uneven road surface. Speed doesn't really seem to matter, makes the noise over any rough surface. Noise seems to be coming from front drivers side. Took it to Toyota and the went on test drive with Tech. They couldn't really diagnose it but found a Service Bulletin for an engine mount...I will have to check back and see if he meant transmission mount. Anyway, they are ordering a part. I would feel a little more confident if I thought this would actually do the trick. I hate letting them work on my car because they always screw up something else! Think I will print this out and take it with me to show them when I go for the service.

Mine had this noise until recently, and it stopped when I got an alignment done. I don't know if they lubricated something or tightened something, but maybe the clue will help you!
