Anybody got any suggestions for a luggage rack for a 2006 Prius?

    Thanks

Yes: don't use them. You are going to take a big hit on mileage. The Prius has very good aerodynamics, but not with a luggage rack stuck on top. I would rather pull a small trailer if it comes to that.

I'd be concerned with the adverse effects on handling. A load up top would raise the centre of gravity, and make the car even more susceptible to side winds. Are you sure you can't fit everything inside?

    You might check-out evnut's pages:

    Prius Racks

I had a Yakima rack on my 1997 Saturn SC2 and used the clips. Unfortunately, I had someone back into my 2009 Prius Touring on 1/25. It should be repaired finally this week. I requested they also install the "permanent" Yakima rack. Landing pads remain on the vehicle; however, the rack clips out when not in use. If you don't use the cargo hold on the rack very often, this might be a great option to reduce fuel efficiency impact.

As noted I wasn't quite brave enough (nor could I find the time) to install it myself. These pages show the rack and installation...
