I got the invite ... will be in LA tomorrow ... I am sooooooo excited. My husband is attending with me ... so I'll be in his FJ, not my "Ruby."

Looking forward to a fun time and meeting with other Prius Fans.

Well, why haven't I been PMed? If your going to write of your driving experience you may as well write of them now and I can proof read them for you. I promise I wont read content, I'll just check for grammatical errors and punctuation. Honest.
    Glad to be of service.
By the way, mum's the word if anyone does this, may be better to use email.

sure, blame mum if it get's out. :D

Here's when we pulled up: 2010's all over the landscape!
They were being pulled into position ... getting ready for the test rides later on:

    http://usera.imagecave.com/w4abj/HybridStuff/detroit/LA/IMG_1930pc.jpg

How 'bout that ... 1970's CA dealer license plate on a 2010.

Then ... be still my heart ... a whole string of em' ! I had to man up real quick before anyone saw me getting 'misty' :D

    http://usera.imagecave.com/w4abj/HybridStuff/detroit/LA/IMG_1898pc.jpg

Some of the detroit folks will note a few extra colors were present there.

As we went inside ... there she was ... the illusive Erica (& friends). Told here we missed having here w/ us in Detroit.

    http://usera.imagecave.com/w4abj/HybridStuff/detroit/LA/IMG_1900pc.jpg

After my wife was done telling me to "shut up & quit flirting with girls young enough to be my daughter" ... we went in:

    http://usera.imagecave.com/w4abj/HybridStuff/detroit/LA/IMG_1928pc.jpg

There were lots of WAY-cool displays ... different from the Detroit displays (the invisible car, for instance wasn't there). I'm not sure if we're supposed to post 'em so I'll err on the side of caution.

BUT, then I noticed something else. "MOD's" in the wild.

    http://usera.imagecave.com/w4abj/HybridStuff/detroit/LA/IMG_1927pc.jpg

So of course, I had to suck up the the head cheese. After successfully kissing butt, I didn't remember taking any pic's from the back seat in detroit, so you can see that even w/ the front seat moved back, I still had a couple inches to spare ... even tho we're talking 6'-5" lanky factor.

    http://usera.imagecave.com/w4abj/HybridStuff/detroit/LA/IMG_1914pc.jpg

I don't feel NEAR as comfy in the TDI back seat, btw.
After chowing down most excelent grub (and a little socializing) we went back out onto the street for a ride, and got behind the wheel.

I cliked off a shot of the LED's in the bright sunny 82 degree winter daylight while I was at it, as I was curious how they compare to my 2004's daytime brightness. After the test drive wound up, we got the ol 2004 back for the drive home.

Then I saw TWO mods. They like to congregate ... and talk about moderater stuff :p

    http://usera.imagecave.com/w4abj/HybridStuff/detroit/LA/IMG_1932pc.jpg

Danny tried to blow by me in the spicy red one he demo'd but I cut him off.

    the end.

my wife and i went to the event and it was absolute first class. BEAU-TI-FUL!

going against HTMLspinner for T-shirts proved to be a LOSING endeavor, but we managed to get two "PRIUS GENIUS" shirts of our own!!

we both want to personally thank TOYOTA, AND PRIUSCHAT, (of course DANNY) for this unique opportunity!

DANNY - sorry we didn't get a chance to say regards and didn't see this thread and never saw your photo before..............................???

Wow! Looks like a great time had by all. I really wish I could have made it out there. I'll just live with the memories of PCD.

Nice picture of you and your daughter standing there with Danny & Nicole, but why didn't you have your daughter take the picture so we could have seen your wife?

This is not a question about driving the cars: It looks like you got to see quite a bit of the Blue Ribbon Metallic car. Was it a V with Adv. Tech? What was the interior trim? Was it the bisque leather (it looks pretty light)?

OK. I have to stop or I'll just be asking questions you can't answer.

Thanks for sharing the photos. Well done!

Hey KK6PD ... I think I met you at today's event. I was the one you said "it's better if you sit inside." :)

What a fun day! I certainly learned alot, got my Prius Genius t-shirt, enjoyed fabulous food, saw the colors of the cars, played with the displays and NAV system, totally forgot to plug in my iPod to test out the new audio system :( did anyone?, asked a "ton" of questions, and got answers to 90%+ of them ... and of course the shhhhhhhh, can't discuss stuff.

My husband likes the new blue ... I'm not ready to give up red ... but if it means a new Prius ... then maybe I can learn to like the blue ;)

I played for 3 rounds and won two. Sadly, my losing question was the series, parallel, or series-parallel hybrid question. I should have known better ;-) I had to play/win twice to get one shirt for myself, and one for my wife.

    As for the event itself:

The BEST part was Scott Haddad's Hybrid Estima (Japaneese hybrid mini-van) loaner from Japan! I promised I wouldn't take pictures to keep him out of trouble, as he was kind enough to let him know he was leaving and knew that Beth and I wanted to see the mini-van. Those around me weren't part of that conversation and poor Scott was mobbed to view the car as soon as it pulled up (including Danny, Tideland, FireEngineer, and Inventor (OC Prius)). Doug later told me that photos are fine as the car is "public knowledge". Funniest part was the km/h -> MPH conversion print out on the dash for his purposes, and the biggest commented on feature were the foot rests in the chairs. Only two wide, and Scott said it's a bit on the sluggish side (i.e. Gen 1 Prius) for US standards. He said that he was "bummed" (sarcasm) that he had to drive the car around all weekend to drain the gas tank enough to ship back to Japan.

I shot a video from the back seat as my dad drove (and "talked" the poor guy's ear off), and Beth took some shakey video from the back seat as I drove. Hopefully there's some "useable" video in the end. Both Danny and I shot some video of the self park demonstration that was quite enlightening. I can say that there was a single driver demoing this feature, and we weren't allow to try this out on our own. Look for this video and driving impressions on 3/25 after 8am PST. YES, we had to sign a release and a "promise to not disclose driving experience". Beth chose in the end not to drive - I think she was intimidated by the car (she still doesn't drive mine on a regular basis).

I did post a brief video we shot in side the Blue (solar) Prius (confirmed same from Detroit by VIN) of the Bluetooth audio streaming.

There were new displays of the Gen2 and Gen3 PSD's, Gen2 and Gen3 battery packs, and Gen2 and Gen3 inverters (though not quite exploded enough for our liking). The new PSD uses a gear drive vs. chain drive to the final drive. FireEngineer got some slightly better photos as his camera had a polarizer filter to remove the glare. Sadly, the Detroit cut-away was in Geneva this time around.

All in all, about 80 attendees showed up, including some families w/children. We arrived at 10:30am and had immediate access to everythign, and while we weren't really asked to leave, they were starting to clean up and break things down at 2:30pm-ish. We finally "left" around 2:40pm. I did grab a couple of shots of the theater seating that would be a similar view as the contestents of American Idol would see as they perform ;-)

On the drive home, we spotted the same "accident scene" movie shot on an overpass over the 110 that Danny commented on yesterday.

I had a good time, learned a lot from Ty from the OC Prius Club about modifications for my current car.

Who's going to be the first one to retrofit the 2010 seats into the 04-09 model? If the width is the same, it should fit right? Maybe not, wishful thinking. It also looks like the rear cargo area is wider or maybe that's just my imagination. I like the larger rear spoiler and the fact that on the blue Prius it is black along with the solar roof and moonroof, it looks like the roof of a Lexus or a Scion tC

Sorry I didn't find you Danny, never met you or seen pictures so didn't know who I was looking for:(.
