    Hello,

We have a 2006 model with pkg. 5. My wife regularly used her Motorola RAZR V3m with the hands-free Bluetooth, but then the connection (to the car) started intermittently dropping out for no apparent reason. Now, it doesn't pair with the phone at all. When scanning for the phone nothing is found.

My own phone, a Samsung SCH-R210 ("Spex") doesn't work with the car properly either, however the symptoms are different. Sometimes this phone will be paired and sometimes it won't. However even after displaying that the phone is connected (on the car), the status will say "not connected" (on the car). This phone is not listed on Toyota's compatibility list but it also used to work with the car.

Since both phones worked previously I believe the problem is with the car. The car is out of warranty. I tried calling the number listed at toyota.letstalk.com but the office is closed and seemed to be all about selling stuff anyway.

Any tips, no matter how technical? Many thanks.

Try clearing the phone from the memory and then start the pairing process like a new phone. Sometimes this works.

Both my wife's 2007 Touring and my 2006 Standard have this problem from time to time.

What we have found over some trial and error and seeing it do it a few times is that the Prius will lose the Passcode for the Bluetooth. This is usually a 4 digit code that is used during the setup process to sync the phone with the car.

Since you can store multiple phones with the car this is easily checked by switching from one phone to another. You should see "Now connecting to ...." and the Passcode will be displayed below ... if I remember correctly. It has been awhile since I have switched phones in one of our cars.

Anyway if the Passcode is blank instead of showing 1111 or whatever number you used during the setup it has been lost. This causes the "automatic" connection between the phone and car to not be made consistently. Basically you lose the "handshake" of the devices.

Sometimes this can happen mid call even i have seen. You will be talking on the Bluetooth with your phone in the cupholder and then boom no Bluetooth but the call is still on your phone so you have to put it up to your ear. How annoying, LOL.

You don't have to go through the whole setup procedure again just type the Passcode back into the Prius and you should be fine. I think that is why most people use an easy number like 1111, 2222, 1234, etc....

Anyway give that a shot and see if it helps.

    Happy driving,
    Chris

    Thanks for the replies.

I have tried deleting the phone and starting all over. I tried deleting the setup information on the phones and starting over that way as well. It was no help.

I haven't seen any way to change the passcode. The code displayed in my Prius is always 1111.

Has anyone changed/installed the BT module? Where is it, and where might I be able get another? Is it terribly difficult to change? Is it expensive? I know the bluetooth module available for my laptop is tiny, little more than an IC on a small board. Hopefully the Prius module is similar and not integrated into a larger and more expensive part.
