Hello everyone! I am new to PriusChat but got my Prius new in 2003. I'm at about 85K miles and am nervous about the hybrid warranty expiring. Should I be? I was thinking of selling or trading in my Prius for a couple year old Yaris (2 door). Any ideas/suggestions?? I don't want to have expensive hybrid system repairs come up. Thanks!

Welcome to PriusChat. Being a newbie, I can not address the longevity first hand. However, from what I know about Toyota and what I have read on this forum, you should have many more miles left in your car. I usually keep my cars for 10 to 12 years which ends up being about 150k miles. I am sure one of the PriusChat veterans will be able to tell you what to expect.

Thanks. It seems like I need to do some digging within the chat forums and compare what services I've had done vs what "could" go wrong. Any other ideas?

Don't be nervous, and don't buy trouble. The way to get the most value from any car is to keep up the scheduled maintenance and drive it into the ground. The few thousand you could get for that Prius won't go far toward buying another car. Conversely, about the worst that could happen would be replacing the traction battery, which even at a couple thousand is much less than you'd spend on a replacement car.

In california the Hybrid powertrain warranty is 150,000 including the hybrid battery, but not the 12V. I'm halfway there in my 06. Next year I should pass the 100K, too.

That should be least of our worries, even at $200 or so to replace by others:D
