Ok, not quite. It's the APGS (Advanced Parking Guidance System) from the LS460 but I figured it's fairly close.

For those that want to read up on the system or want to know the inner workings (i.e. how to operate), this is for you.

One thing I did note is that you can adjust the spot by touching the location on the screen. Up til now, every single video on Youtube or any tv show shows the driver adjusting the spot via the arrows, making it seem like larger adjustments would be terribly slow and painful. This shouldn't be an issue since the better you position the vehicle, the better the computer can map out the spot and the less adjustments you need to make.

Edit: Once enough people have seen it and are familiar with it, I'll move it into the KB for storage and future reference.

Thanks for posting that TP, but if the IPA on my 2004 is any indication, the IPA screens on the next-gen prius will look very different to those pictured for the LS460.
Just one example to mention, the IPA screens on mine have little flag icons you can place on the screen image of obstacles you want the system to avoid (edges of cars, light poles, whatever).

I haven't seen how the ones on the UK models look. I guess it
will also remain to be seen whether the new IPA will look like the
other Prius examples, or like the more recent Lexus ones.

Just for the record, I like the older Prius one better than the Lexus one ;)

Well they have two different names but they may or may not have differences (e.g. SKS vs. SmartAccess... no difference in this case other than they get 4 doors instead of just the front doors).

The new one is much improved and it is a lot quicker to set up. It also seems to allow a higher speed. What's the max speed on your unit?

? Good question TP. As fast as I would want certainly, but if there is a limit I don't know it as I've never had a manual for that feature (no limit is mentioned on the set-up screen as I recall).

I'll post a photo or two of the screens when I get a chance and you can see if your japanese is better than mine ;-)

lol which would be none. I think we'll need speedracer, ken or san to translate it for us.

As far as I can tell (from memory), that APGS manual is basically identical to the corresponding IPA section in my 2009 UK Prius manual. I assume samiam has a Japanese import, and Japanese cars have different IPA/APGS to export cars.

    Actually, there are two differences.

First, the LS460 doesn't seem to have an enable button for the APGS feature. In the UK, the IPA is enabled with a toggle button on the dash, next to the EV button. That button has a green enable light. If the IPA is disabled, you don't get the two assist mode buttons in the corners of the screen.

Which brings me on to the second difference - when the IPA is disabled, you get instead a button in the bottom left of the screen allowing you to change the guidance lines displayed. You get a choice of

    • dynamic yellow trajectory lines - indicating where the car will go with the steering wheel in the current position, including 1m and red 0.5m distance markers.
    • fixed green guidance lines, showing the trajectory for backing straight up, and the outer radius of a turn at maximum lock in each direction. Can't remember if that has the 0.5m marker as well.
    • no guidance lines - which is what you see in the LS460 manual
This choice is remembered and applies whether or not you go on to use IPA.

And, cutely, the car came with an instructional DVD for the IPA here - presumably they thought the manual might be a bit too heavy.

Both of those are true for mine as well (yes it is a JDM vehicle).
And I see from photos of the new Prius that it has the IPA switch on the dash as well, even the same icon as mine.

Yup but without an indicator light.
