Does the GROM USB support file types besides mp3 and wma? Most of my files are WAV.

So if I buy the product now, I just need to update the firmware later in order to get the text working correctly?

    Thanks!

As for me, the device looks slightly overpriced. Can't go beyond the psychological barrier of $100, provided I can plug in a Chinese FM/CD/USB player that costs $33 or less. (Well, I'll be unable to control it from the wheel/MFD, right.)

There's a car-specific cable that comes with this device. Does that mean if you want to move it to a different car (say you buy a new car) you just have to buy a different cable?

Correct. Text support for most stereos is going to be available tonight.
    MFD not yet supported :(

In theory yes. All cars from compatibility list are going to work with the same device so far. Some new ones will not as the use different medias for passing data.

    2 questions:

Will it work with a base model 2009 Prius with Toyota's Gen-4 audio system (no NAV, CD changer, or MP3 capabilities)?

Once you update the firmware, will CD text be displayed on the Gen-4 screen?

The first batch of devices will be here next week.
We will need beta testers for the device.
    It supports:
    - USB mass storage playback (up to 160GB)
    - MP3/WMA/AAC (iTunes Plus)/OGG
    - Firmware upgradeable, will fit other car makes
    - AUX input
    - iPod input (not yet active)

We are working on other features which are:
    - FLAC/APE playback (lossless)
    - iPod integration

Device itself will be around $100 with $40 back upon review/comments/report.
The device itself is in beta right now, so PM me if interested.
We really want to hear the feedback from Prius community. And I'll post Prius operational video shortly :)

Last version (gromusb2_toy_13.hex, 06.23.09) of firmware d'nt work: can't scan USB and read MP3. When I reinstall previous version, everything is working correctly.

Suggest the last two posters contact Grom thru gromaudio.com if you have not already done so. Not sure how often they look here. Just a thought...

My car is not a Prius, but again Toyota. I was looking for MP3 player with possibility to display Text on the original Audio system of my car. The car is Toyota Avensis 2001 with origianl Stereo system WH8406 (PH762W211367836, Philips). From the instruction manual of the car i understood that usually the stereo supports MD changer with possibility to display title/artist. Do you know if GROM_USB2_TOY will use this possibility and display the text on the screen.

I have already bought a GROM device. There are some problems with startup(have to be disconected and connected from time to time). Also there are some problems with changing the source(FM, USB, AUX) which are also leading to the same situation in which the device has to be disconnected and connected again. Overall the quality of the sound is great and I think to keep the device.
