I'm wanting to upgrade from 5.1, but save some bucks by buying a used 7.1 Nav disk on eBay instead of the latest version from the dealer.

I haven't had a chance to study the DVD drive under the seat yet, and I haven't found an answer to these questions:

How do you remove the old disc and insert the new one? Is it just like a computer's DVD-Rom drive, with a little button and a motorized tray that comes out and goes back?

And, once I insert the new disc, do I have to DO anything to update the system, or is it all seamless and automatic? Do I have to re-enter my home address or any other settings?

    Thanks.

The Nav DVD player is located under the driver's seat. Move the seat all the way forward and get in the back seat. You'll see a plastic faceplate cover (about 2" x 5") that you remove to get to the DVD controls. At the upper left you'll see what looks like an eject button. Depress it and slide it to the left. This will open a door to reveal the DVD slot. The DVD should eject. If not, just press the button again. Oh, and have the car powered on. :)

Good luck. My Nav system just died on me and I have to take the car in on Monday. Get this - my Prius has 35,952 miles on it. Whew!
