    Hi All,

I just bought an 01 with 63K miles. This had been an auction car that didn't come with a key so the buyer went the dealer and got set up with a new master, so I'm told. So here's the rub, the car won't start on the first try. Turn in on, then off, then back on and it will start. The immobiliser led continues to do the intermittent flashing thing. The owners manual of course tells me to go give Toyota some money. Any Idea's on what's going on? Next question, where do I find the "package #" information for this car?

Sounds unusual. both the car's 12 volt battery and the fob battery are potential candidates for replacement. Even though the fob batt is associated with the door locker, not the immob.

However I guess that something is intermittent in the keyswitch or thereabouts, or possibly the body ecu. You should at least consult with Toyota of Olympia about how to proceed. I have had good experience at that shop.

Thanks for the reply. The 12v battery was replaced recently but I don't know if it was before or after the key replacement. I suspect after. Toyota is the next step.

    Regards,
