The only 3 tires that I've been able to find for my 30K mi. Touring are 1)Original equipment Bridgestone Turanza 2)Firestone Firehawk 3)Michelin Pilot Primacy. Any opinions? Thanks.

No opinion on the Firehawk since I have no experience with it. The Primacys and Turanzas are roughly on the same level.

If you are willing to pay a bit more for a premium tire that will improve your MPG while providing great traction in all weather conditions (dry, wet or snow), consider the Nokian WRg2. You can read about them at the Nokian web site:
    Nokian WRG2
And order them via phone from:
Nokian Tires - Winter Tires, Snow Tires and much more from the Tire Factory

Note that my 2004 Prius with the older WR tires is getting about 4% better MPG than it did with the original Goodyear Integrity tires.

I am in same situation, including choices, and would appreciate learning which tire you selected, and reason for doing so.

I went for the Michelin. I've bought a bunch of them in my 40+ years of driving, and have never had a complaint. Discount Tire had them in stock and at a better price than some of the other chains. I was extremely pleased with their service, especially their attention to the tire pressure monitoring system. I've put about 100 mi. on them today and they drive great. They have a AA Rating on traction, so I'm expecting to drop some mpg's ... but for the sake of safety. I'll share further impressions later.

That was quick. Usually we debate tires for months. ;)

I earned 41k on the OEMs and now ride on Michelin Hydroedge. I keep the Hydroedge well inflated - they perform well on wet and dry pavement.

    Greetings, all.

I put the Hydros on my 05 Prius in 05. Have about 40k miles on them including 3 coast to coast (US) trips from SC to San Diego. Not impressed with (of all things) hydro-plaining and noise. Is it just me? On the plus side they look like I'll get about another 40k on them, easy. Wet braking seems pretty good as well. Inflation to 42/40, btw....

I've run hydroedges on 2 other vehicles and love them - but couldn't find them in 195/55/16.
