I'm sorry that I'm late in this, but we should start talking about where and when to have our next meetup. In the past, I've provided some dates to choose from. We've then tried to narrow down a location.

This time, I'm going to open it up. But here are some thougths previously thrown out:
    - Meetup in a national park with a grill
    - Meetup and a clean-up
    - Meetup at someone's home
    - I liked the idea of the Madison, WI group meeting at a Brewers game. I was thinking that a Schaumburg Flyers game would be equally fun.

So let's get this ball rolling...

You accidentally hit on something nice at the Weber Grill in Lombard.

The location should allow for group photos. If possible, the background should be neutral or attractive. There should be room for photogs to work without getting some SUV in the picture.

And try not to roast out on some strip of asphalt.

Actually the Schaumburg Flyers location might work. You can never have too much (non-Cubs) baseball, and I don't think their parking lot is jam-packed. Also, anyone going to the meet-up without a Prius (! - you know, to meet someone who drove) can get there on Metra's line to Elgin, which stops near the park.

Mid-May through early June can conflict with graduation/reunion/move kids home events as school ends. Not all of us are in that affected age group (who, me?).

I think if we are looking for May, it'd have to be early, like May 1st or May 7th, because May 8th is Mother's Day, and then the next weekend through maybe early/mid June is college moving, graduations, Memorial Day weekend vacations, etc.

And if we are looking that early, we need to get a move on. :flame:

May 1st is pretty quick. I already have plans, and probably a lot of others do too. May 7th works for me, but may have the same problem for others.

Forest preserves make good backdrops for pictures, and if we make it a picnic then not everyone has to get there at exactly the same time if they are busy part of the day.[font=Arial:161255aa54][/font:161255aa54]

The weather forecast for May 1 is pretty much as bleak as this weekend.

We might have to hold off until June. That's not so bad, I suppose, if we then have another one in late August.

If anyone is interested, there's a Schaumburg Flyers baseball game on Saturday, June 11th against the Joliet Jackhammers. (Cross-town rivalry) And it's a post-game fireworks night! The game starts at 6:20pm. This would allow us to meet earlier in the day, take pictures if we want, eat something if we want, maybe even have a Prius tailgating party. Answer questions from passers-by, and then take in the game.

That would pretty much take care of the large-scale planning. We'd have the basic when and where. We can then figure out if someone wants to bring a grill, who wants cheese on their burgers, and all that.

    What'd'ya think?

p.s. there is also a game on Saturday, May 28th, if May is still on the table.

Finished my reunion plans. You only have one 25th reunion (unless you count high school's). Available for the game and...

My wife has to attend a retirement party for a teacher (lots of those in June, as well) on the 11th. I was so close - and I'm a big Jackhammers fan (well, I've heard of them).

    After the 11th is great.

    Great minds think alike.

Can't do 6/11 due to school or 6/30; but the 18th and 25th are wide open. Mid-July, the 16th or 23rd works too. (pretty soon we'll be talking Christmas!)

The Flyers game sounds like a great idea. Easy to find, cheap tickets, etc.

M$ Outlook and Lotus Notes have this great feature that when you want to schedule a meeting with someone they will check everyone's calendars and suggest a date and time. If only PC had a feature like that.

The only thing I can think to do is to just ask that you submit available days. I thought about making a poll question, but polls only allow one entry. I need multiple choise.

We'll establish a date first and then look for things occuring on that day. It's silly to pick an event and disclude people just to keep the event.

    Available Dates
    Every weekend day in June

So far I'm available every weekend in June and July except for Fathers Day itself. I'm pretty busy for the rest of May. Hopefully we can pick a date with at least a couple weeks notice.

Alright, I'll jump on it. I'm now busy the 25th and the 26th, and scrolling the posts, I think the 18th is our best bet, I don't see one conflict... yet.

Everyone, yay or nay to the 18th, and activité du jour?

    June 18th works for me.

I vote for a picnic in a forest preserve followed by a clean up by anyone interested.
