Ah, I see. I was wondering why that Word file ended up being so huge!

Thanks for taking the time to write out and photograph the instructions, they were very helpful and I used them to install a DICE into my 2008 Prius, last night. I came across a couple of things that were different though that may cause trouble for others. The screw that sits underneath the air vent that holds the big white box of wires was reinforced with a bolt, so I could not move the big box of wires out of the way because I didn't have the right kind of tool. This made things much more difficult. Fortunately, I have small female hands with long fingers that were able to reach behind the radio. The second thing that was different than the directions was that the slot on my radio was vertical - but since I couldn't see back there it took me half an hour to figure this out. But I got it working and I'm very excited to listen to my iPod in my new car, which doesn't have an aux, and quite proud that I was able to do it by myself.

If I remember correctly, the screw you refer to is a "bolt" type screw where one could remove the screw with either a very deep socket wrench or a long screwdriver with a phillps tip or a wide flat-head tip.

Your slot was vertical??? Interesting. Mine was horizontal and even other pictures I have seen of the back of the radio are horizontal. Anyone else find a vertical plug receptacle back there?

Anyway, glad the install worked out for you!

I installed my Dice Silverline today after work. Using the instructions courtesy of ualdriver and eko, installation was a breeze. Not difficult at all. If anyone has ever balked at doing this because they thought it would be difficult, think again. It wasn't. It was a seamless operation and it works great. Once you get used to the mechanics of it, it's a piece of cake to operate.

Got some people asking me how to install into Prius and decided to shoot the video.

It will work with any iPod/Sat/AUX device so check it out ;)

Is it possible to get one of these into the 09 Camry w/ JBL stereo?

Sorry for the bump - but this guide is amazing. I'm ordering this kit next week once it's compatible with the 3G iPhone.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for posting both those PDF's and the vid. Just installed mine after I opened this morning at Christmas. This was my first Prius mod and things went much easier. Thanks again.

I installed my Dice in my 2008 this weekend. Great Instructions.
The only picture that threw me off was the one of the vent fascia sitting on a shelf. I was looking for something that looked like that inside the dash and it was driving me crazy! Maybe in future editions of the pdf someone could just remove that picture.

    Here's my little contribution.

For taking off the vent fascia, I recommend a cheap plastic putty knife (1'' wide) from Home Depot or your hometown hardware store. It doesn't mess up the plastic like a metal screwdriver would.

You might consider sawing off the handle so you're not bumping into the windshield.

Thanks a million for all these handy hints!!!

Just wanted to thank the author of these instructions. I installed this on Saturday using the printouts and with the exception of the plug coming out of the back of the stereo a couple times while moving things around (seems to be a common complaint with this device) everything went like a charm. I don't think I would have tried to install it myself without them.

Slightly retarded question... But I have a 2005 and its got the effing tape and 6cd changer built in. So I dont have the AUX port or the cd changer plug (i dont think). Can I still use the DICE unit? I want to get both XM (have it in my 09 Matrix) and the ipod interface... But I am not going to spend the money to find out I dont have anywhere in the back of my radio to plug it in. If someone could help me, It would be much appriciated! THX

I would assume (you know what they say about assuming...) that if you have that port on the back of your stereo that you would be able to use the DICE unit regardless. It's not too hard to follow the first few steps in the guide and just feel back there to see if there is a place to plug the cable into. If it's not there, I don't know how you could get the DICE to work with your car.

mmmk, so I have done a lil research here... I have pics of what the back of my 05 radio looks like and the back of an 08 radio... Now ya'll that have put them in, does your radio look like the one in the photo?! haha You can tell there is an extra plug area on the right inner side that mine does not have. Is that the one that is used for the DICE unit?

First image is the one of the 05, second is the one of the 08. Thanks if anyone could help me out! :)

To me, and I'm certainly no pro, but it looks like the two receptacles that I outlined in a red box in your photos look exactly the same. And although the back of your 2008 radio looks different than the back of my 2008 radio (see page 8 of guide), the red outlined receptacle is the "aim point" for the DICE cable.

If that's what the back of your 2005 looks like, you could order a unit and just try to get the cable in. If it fits, great. If it doesn't for some reason, I imagine you could just return it.

Many thanks for this write-up. I installed my Dice this weekend with minimal trouble. I wasn't able to completely move the box of wires, but I somehow got my hand behind the stereo and plugged in the dice. Love it so far, much better sound quality than the AUX port.

I used the instructions here to install a Grom Audio Car2Aux. I second the suggestion to use a cheap plastic putty knife to start the vent trim removal. I also strongly suggest that a 10mm 6-pt socket on a 10" extension be used to remove/install the bolt at the top of the big block of wires.

I'm brand new to the Prius, but I've wanted one for years. I've had it for about 10 days, and it only has 32 miles on it! I wanted to get a few things installed before I start driving it every day. Now, the car is in pieces, and I need to get this completed before my wife gets a look. So, here's my question...

I purchased the DICE unit to connect my iPod. And, I'm following the instructions detailed earlier in this thread. But, I had the dealer add the module for XM Radio, and now, when I feel the back of the radio, there is no "open" spot to connect the DICE. Also, the connector that is attached to the radio where the DICE should go is a 20-pin adapter.

Any ideas on how I can connect the DICE with the XM? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
